I watched LYF and liked both Tushan Jing and Xiang Liu. Each had their strengths and flaws, but the drama altered Jing’s portrayal by cutting and rearranging key novel scenes, making him seem weaker than he was. In the novel, he wasn’t weak and even had a connection with Xiang Liu. Since many viewers hadn’t read the novel, they judged Jing solely based on the drama, leading to unfair criticism of both the character and Deng Wei himself. Some anti-Jing fans even harassed Deng Wei, forgetting that actors simply follow the director’s vision. I remember seeing a video of an anti-Jing fan fiercely scolding Deng Wei after he got off work at the studio. If Deng Wei’s performance frustrated her, that just proves he did his job well—so let’s be kind to the actor.
Also, in historical or Xianxia settings, we know that arranged marriages weren’t easily broken, especially if one was royalty or noble. Jing had to juggle honoring his grandmother while ensuring FFYY wasn’t shamed when he broke off their engagement—pretty considerate, given how terribly FFYY treated him. And then getting drugged by his own grandmother so that she could get her way? That was just brutal. Ultimate betrayal! How could one not feel for Jing?
That said, I am happy that Deng Wei got to shine in Divine Tree! It proves how much an actor’s performance depends on the role and direction given, and we got to see Deng Wei's versatility in Divine Tree. I think he’d make an amazing villain, and I’m excited to see him in Take Me Where The Clouds Rise if it ever gets screened. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, the agency problems are persistent rumours which some fans wish Weiwei would address. But I guess if Weiwei is not comfortable to share more about that then we should respect his wishes. But fans are concerned for him because he should be riding on his wave of success and popularity but he has not started on any new projects. Sighs...😓

From what I gather by doing screenshots and getting a rough translation via google translate, I think people can donate to plant trees in the desert? The China Diamonds planted 620* trees because he is 30 this year. So meaningful right? And if that is a desert in Mongolia, that would be even more meaningful. Awww man...🥹🫰🫶💖👍
