I can't help but analyse things further;

“He is straight”:

First and foremost, although it shines some light on the topic, this was a dangerous claim that dates back to decades of criminalisation of homosexuality. This prejudice brutally impacts the public view, and is greatly contributing to the perpetuation of the stigma about gays being predators; and what complicates this situation all the more is how Boston’s promiscuity is the center of it all.

“He sleeps with everything that breathes”:

Diving deep, “promiscuous,” is a word weaponised against gay men, among others, often in an attempt to police how much sex is acceptable. Of course, this includes judgement and shame.

As long as all parties involved are consenting adults and practicing safe sex, there is nothing inherently bad or wrong.

This has only started to change very recently, yet still very ingrained in today’s society.

The approach may not have been the best, but it was certainly a reflection of real life events, and paves the way for an open, raw and more honest debate.

I need to point out a few things I realised after thinking and reflecting, please bear with me once more:

As viewers, we are aware of what really happened between Boston and Atom, but Cheum is not, and I failed (miserably) to take that into account.

Regardless of her actions; I understand where she is coming from:

There was a claim of SA, and by none other than her brother.

If a family member tell us they have been sexually abused/assaulted: Would we really ask them for evidence or doubt their story?

I don’t think so, the initial reaction is to believe them because victims rarely lie, so believing a survivor’s story is a valid response. It’s a rule of thumb to not further hurt a victim and discourage real victims to come forward.

I can’t expect her to be neutral or unbiased. Sorry about that.

The scene when Cheum was angrily yelling at Ray when he was about to be arrested was sick, that wasn’t the time nor the place, specially since she said “she cares” for him.

And then, there’s Mew, taking advantage of the whole situation with Boston to vent out his hurt… and fuelling the bandwagon of hatred towards him going as far as treating Boston like some kind of twisted predator.

Instead of talking or discussing the situation with Boston, we have 3 people ganging up on him relentlessly, because I suppose being mature enough to do it alone was too much to ask.

So, I think Cheum and Mew are the most self-centered people in the whole group, and have no trouble spitting out trash left and right and throwing anyone under the bus because they think they’re better than the rest.

Please, take into account that I don’t hate anyone.
