I Had Serious Issues With the Writing

**This is just my opinion. I truly appreciate all of the hard work that went into the making of this drama. Thank you.**

Innocence. From the first few moments you see Yu Shi's innocence and delight in something as simple as a flower. We also see Wu Zheng's expression, the way that he's stroking Yu Shi's hand and hear his voice in what he is saying in the commentary and phone call. He says that Yu Shi is like a little kid and that even if something were to happen that he wouldn't be able to fight him. I was so uncomfortable watching it. Not because Yu Shi is underage. He's not. He's 28 years old. The way he is behaving, everything about him, makes you think of a very young child. Wu Zheng doesn't cross the line with him until Yu Shi unexpectedly appears in front of him and they're both naked. I don't want to spoil how but regardless, Wu Zheng knew that Yu Shi wasn't thinking like an adult or able to make decisions about his own body. He shouldn't have done anything with him while he was in that state. I think it's an unforgiveable thing to do.

I think that the writers over simplified trauma, mental illness, the difficulties that a straight person has when they develop feelings for someone of the same sex for the first time and the difficulties bi or gay people have introducing their partners to their families. This series somehow managed to stuff all of that into just four 23 minute long episodes. I'm straight but I have LGBTQ family members and it's important to me that there is at least some realism.

I really did like both Blake Chang and Yi Da Dian and thought that they did a terrific job. It's the writing that I have an issue with, not them.
