Such a weird take 😅South Korea is doing both at least...they've produced tenths of uncensored BLs in the last…
Not weird, I suppose it's a sad take. South Korea imo is just getting started with bl, but the actors aren't well established. As another user said, most are newcomers. I'm also talking about bl drama, not a hetro drama with side characters that are gay. Even in china, i think if they weren't censored, the issue will be the same with casting. Actors carry shows, and it's just how it is. Even if the script is well written, I don't think any production company will be willing to pursue without decent actors.

I think japanese bl actors are established, mainly the ones in cherry magic where both actors are successful.…
Yeah, when I watch bl, I want good actors first, because no matter how dumb the plot is, the actors will carry the show.

Wow. Just. WOW. Some of you will REALLY bend over backwards to explain how great homophobia is.
bye, i'm not letting you hijack my threat.

But by self censoring you don't tackle the homophobic problem, you only let it go on...Still, it's the sad reality…
South Korea may seem like an open place, but they look down on lgbt internally, which is why I think no established or mainstream actor is willing to work in uncensored bl. Production companies don't care about 'homophobic problem' yes it is about greed. The new upcoming bl adaption from SK is an example, they see the popularity of the novel so now they want to adapt it and make money out of it - and the only way to make it worth the watch is if they put established actors in it. It's not in the right direction, but atleast the censored version will make people read the novel with bl in it. This goes to china as well.

Kdrama bromance is essentially censored bl. Think of Good Manager, Beyond Evil, Psychopath Diary and yes Devil…
I've watched them all, and especially Psycopath diary seems like the villain is pursing our mc for other interests. Might as well be a bl.

What is the name of this bl adaption?
There is no information out except for the announcement of the mainstream actor. I don't understand who wrong the genres on the drama page, but they seem inaccurate to me. We have to wait and see to find more info.

Ofcourse the issue of 'image'. I believe if China were to remove all censorship, I still think some bl dramas will remain censored because a certain actor might refuse if they don't. Just like what SK is doing right now. They are censoring because they want to, because they know established actors may not work on it, but the plot is so good, they have to remove bl elements for the actor can play the role.

Japan is open to bl dramas. They are the ones who started us off, they will be successful no matter what. In Cherry Magic, there isn't much going on but declaration of love, and it's still the more popular than any others with skinships depicted in dramas. If you gave me a choice between Cherry Magic and any Thai or Korea bl, Cherry Magic will win because it has no competition from them. Bl novels are quiet popular, and I'm sure SK is itching to adapt them, but when you have an A+ script, you also need an A+ actor to lead.

What is the name of this bl adaption?
I think it's loosely based on crime&punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. Also, in the tags of the devil judge, it says it's an adaption of same sex work.
On Justice in the Dark Mar 29, 2023
If not for censored bl, no decent actor will work in these adaptions. In a way, it's good they are censored because we get to watch the full potential of the drama. I think SK is taking the same route as well. After the powerhouse hit of devil judge, they have another bl adaption in the works, it will be censored, but I'm sure the quality would be great.

why are people forcing themselves to watch dramas they find boring? I don't understand the mentality. Why put…
You are whining. Complaining about something that you can easily change, but no, you'd rather whine and cry about it. This isn't a romance drama for you to be antagonizing the main leads relationships to begin with. Anyone who skips through dramas shouldn't bother complaining. You won't even understand the dynamics to figure out what's even happening. Why bother watching? Just turn it off, and go watch a romance drama since that is the only thing you cry about. Posts like yours trigger me, because it has nothing to do with the drama but your own laziness.

This is boring, but i want to see the scenes and chemistry between the leads so I'm skipping through. Once again…
