I don't believe in 1 bad ending will ruin an entire drama.
Also I don't believe in 1 good ending will make a bad drama turn into a good drama.

Something 90% good but only the last part is bad, I don't regret watching shows like that. There was some efforts put in before they went lazy.

It's better than the boring shows that are 90% lazy, they got the 1 happy ending everyboyd would like. But that 1 part does not accomodate how everything else is so horrible. The ammount efforts they put in those types are typically none. They the dirtiest type. Nobody want a rotten pizza where only 1 slice is edible.

Overall the biggest disapointment is Vinn still didn't really get the girl like always. He needs an award for that.

The revieweres are very accurate and honest here even though they love this show and castings. This show is not the best, that's just the truth. It gets worse especially at the ending. But a bad ending doesn't mean its a bad drama, the begining and middle are still good. Only a bad ending. That still makes it an ok drama.
I've seen way worse than this, some are just terrible all around. From beginning to the end, all boring and no shits happen anywhere. Just cuz they tend to have happy endings. But happy ending does not = good drama.
At least in this show, it is not boring and a lot of shits happened I'll credit them for that effort.

I did see she look very pretty and cute playing Shan Shan but I know that character will be too mushyy to me so I never finish. Reminds me of Dilraba in Sweet Dreams, the character is just too sugary.

I don't find her acting as the best but its not like the worst too. I don't know how people judge her acting, but it's hard for me personally. I tried all her drama. To a dismay I cannot find any good enuf script that can justify for a fair judgment. The scripts are always too bad. Thats why I have this feeling that if she does not have a suitable face to act as a FL, she would not been famous. I'm shallow but I only try and try her dramas just because that I think her face has a big aura of a FL. It's really suitable for it. But her scripts though, usually leads to nowhere. Or either the second leads stole all the scenes.

I don't exaclty agree with you totally about how Minglan showing smartness however. If I had not read what fans explainations and story summary I would actually not know she is suppose to be smart. I think the author does try, but FL came off rather bold to me. So my initial thought was that, I thought her character would be nothing except boldness... An example like how she speculated a maid did not steal a hankerchief at the beginning. Well, in real life who would be so sure about such ordinary speculation? That was only one possibility, it might not even be truth but FL was alredy bold enough to want to take action. The author made FL a person who jump to conclusion and get too bold about what's only a thinking. Because the author wrote it, what ever FL think really is the truth so nothing embarassed her. But that's not how real life is, assumptions are only half and half. That's why I think she is not very smart, but only brave. There are lots of examples like that throughout, and sometimes inconsistent things as well of the blue too. That's why it's very hard to understand without somebody explaning for me. FL actions and thinkings are very ambiguous. It's suppose to be one way but can be seen in other different views too. I did not think FL done anything thats really way out of the ordinary too. Nothing so surprising that wowed. Mostly she kept everything inside too, so made it even harder to know her knowlege. The story doesn't really progress cohesively and theres no chance to see accomplishments getting reached. To me, it waas not very good espcially of those inconsistencies. Anyway, again, its not the acting problem but like always, just the way they write it. I have no idea how to judge her acting on this because the story is in such a way like this. On China media sites it's true that people do blame this actress a lot about her acting needing improvements in ML, but they still ok with her previous works though. So maybe they just big fans of the novel, because in drama adaptation, the side characters such as veteran actors overpowered the FL by way more than should be originally. I cant say I'm very impressed by her acting but it's not her who was the disappointment, it's the story and the scripting.

The fanwars are so crazy esp. after since that award thing happend. That's why I was assuming it's about other actresses having wars.

Any time I heard bad things about Yangzi these days, I cannot help but hearing Dilbaba name in the background as some culprits. Vice versa to Dilbaba too, if people say bad things about her then I get curious if they are from Yangzi as well. It's crazy.
What's even more stunning? I heard of a scheme how fans will use profile pics of an actress they don't like and go around talking bad so people will hate fans from that actress. It will make people think that actresses fans started all the problems when it's not from them. Their goals are obviously to lower ratings and disallowing other actresses to rise to popularity.

These 2 actresses dont even have the highest rating scores here in MDL so I'm going to say the 2 of them have no absolute power at all to lower ratings on top rated shows. For sure they must be famous in china and their chinese forums must be crazier. But at an international fan forum, I think both Yanzi or Dilbaba don't seem to have that big of a fan base yet. It looks like MDL claimed they have check in place to disallow trolls rating stuff too, so the problem of lowering popular shows gotting to be from a really huge fanbase. None of Yangzi and Dilbaba have that here.

I probably don't have the same taste with you on that one. I found the beginning of MingLan boring and slow, but like peolle say it gets getter so I gave it the chance up to 60 by flashing and skipping a few episodes in between. And then I just go to the last part. It didn't give me interst to go back to see why the ending ended such way. I didn't feel like I missed any important part.
The progress still very slow even when they grown up, I happened to like the kid actor more enjoyable than the grown up. If I get to edit that drama I will make it 5 parts total and I m sure I would like it more than the whole idea of 70 episodes and couldn't keep my interest. Yanxi Palace was very long but it kept interest in every episodes,,I like dramas that are with a reasonable pacing.

Eeer...I cannot agree about MingLan though. The FL and ML characters are good and the storyline is ok too, but the directing and pacing are big issues. A single theory or point could've been made within a few episodes (generously at most), but they took forever to point out just 1 idea that made everything too slow for my patient.

Wondering who are the fans harasing Yangzi? Just asking cuz a bunch of people been thwarting blames toward Dilbraba lately, about everything and everyone.
So they say she harass every actresses.Examples are like yangmi and Ariel lin because they acted with Vinn. Dilraba always act with Vinn, so he belongs to her and so on.

However most of Dilraba dramas the storylines are very bad, so the shipping between her and Vinn are not even that strong tbh. I dont believe there are fans that would crazy ship them, and will truly attack another actresses for the reason of Dilraba's love ships. I think they just want to pretend to use that as an excuse so they can put the blame things at Dilbraba. It doesn't seem like she has many crazy fans here too, bcause her dramas are only averaging from 7-8.0 and nobody complain about her dramas not being high enough or whatever. Poeple seem to appreciate she is pretty, but nobody is crazy fonding of her, nothing crazy about her acting skills or the projects she in but just her face. Eveyrone are very honest about that. And they very honest with her drama reviews. They just blatantly admit they watch only for her looks and Vinn, but never because of the story. You can go read them all, people are honest her dramas are draggy and boring because they are. So I can't see why her fans would harass other actresses like people claim. If she really has crazy fans, then why are they never protective of her when people started blaming her? I mostly see bully comments about her everywhere. So it's got to be some other idols with more powerful fans shifting blame at somebody else as a scapegoat.

This drama do have some flaws, but they don't talk about those flaws though. And the stuff they say are that Ariel is acting an annoying girl who is not strong, not smart, and so on. LOL dudes there are so many smart and strong women in the show they cannot see or must have not even watch anything yet but just want to say shitz. That's proving Ariel's acting must be a very big threat to them and their idol.

Good you point it out. I did got very annoy by CY. Who cares about his reason? He can just go ahead and be with his little savior as he wish. Why care to reason out with him when he alreayd got a reason to do what he wants.
The uncle and the dog are like a father and mother to BQ. They gone through more thick and thin with BQ than CY.

If he finds it reasonable to help his savior, although she killed his girlfriend's family members...fine then!
It's not like LQW wasn't going to kill him too, during the time when she was assassinating BQ and he was saving BQ.
As if LQW would save him if she didn't want to be his queen. Knowing that LQW wants to be his queen and he stick around her in front of his girlfriend, I am careless about such a male lead like that.
He can just do what he want, his problem, his own reasons. I hate the writer forever, ruining many things making it so disappointing.
CY character does not make us jealous, but it irks us and disgust us with how inconsiderate he is. Not all reasons are reasonable. His reason, is not even reasonable. It comes off like excuses. It's not about what he did, but it is all about how he made us feel, we felt cheated.
I still like Vinn, he just don't really get good characters to play. The writers just want to ruin him everytime. Poor Vinn but we sitll understand him so thats ok. I hope one day he will get to play a character that is very very good. :'(

Strong female leads might be preferable, but the actress still have to be skillful at playing it convincingly though.
I just like that whatever Ariel play as, she played it convincingly.

FL who fights slow motion annoys me, if they are just going to fight like that, I rather they just don't even fight at all.

Ariel play someone with no fighting skill, but oh boy when she dare to go kick one of the evil lady, Ariel fighting there was really fast and real. It was not a slow motion kick and beautifully rolling to the ground carefully. It looked like an actual realistic fight, not staged.

Ariel is actually very popular. I think Ariel just don't have crazy fans who would be insane and obsessed enough to watch all of her dramas, just for the sake of "her" alone.

I watch beautiful nature time lapse videos...the fast forwarded motion ones of course.

I've seen so many dramas with annoying FL, Ariel acting is nowhere near that. She is top notched. Besides, she wasn't written to be uselessly dim witted. Her character has brains and guts, her personality is goofy but she is smart.

It is very unlike those other dramas where the FL act like she look so smart, she talk like she smart and stuff too, but for her to accomplish something she would never finish anything at all. Maybe after 50 episodes she finally did only 1 thing, but her fans would say she smart bc they like her and they congratulate her smartiness for the 1 thing she did after 50 episodes?...insane
Ariel's character did so many smart things over and over within just 1 single episode only. It's unfair people to say this is draggy when it really is not draggy at all. Define what draggy means lol?

The only thing I can think why she keeps annoying some people, if you're elderly people like my parents age 50-60, they have a little issue not liking the form of her mouth shape. But I'm just happy she kept herself natural and us younger generation actually find it pretty, it's special and unique.

You know what? I think all the good comments in here are too fake. It is a big surprise that it is a huge number of supporters, huge numbers of high ratings, and so many good review, so many good comments...but I am just not convinced.
So many good comments, but why is it when you actually go watch it, it wasn't like what they described? It's like, what the hell were they advertising to me? Very misleading reviews to make people watch with high hopes. Even comparing it to the level of Nirvana in Fire, man...have people even watched both Nirvana in Fire and The Story of Minglan to be honest?

The feeling I get from this thing, it felt like...so raise your hands if you would spend over 3+ hours just to wash 1 single cup clean? Logically nobody unless they crazy!! Of course, obviously...duh? But I guess people really do if it's like a trophy, the one special cup. Maybe the actresses and actors chosen to play in this drama are only big trophies, that would be the only logical reason why people watch it for 20+ hours without any substantial storyline or character development anywhere. The story isn't bad, but for it to be slow like this is very eeeeerm, hi?

Quite trippin to know that the Ruyi Royal Love in The Palace dont get no same bias. They also have very big trophies too, such as Zhou xun, Wallace Huo, Janine, Dongjie, etc. That drama get really honest reviews. It is a slow burning and overly boring drama, but people really do admit that as the real fact it is boring. It lacks engagement. I appreciate those honesty. The actors are big names, definitely but you read reviews that are truthful so know what expecation to get when you go and try watch it.

In Rise of The Phonixe, people also say it is a slow drama and might be boring. I thought Ni Ni and Chen Kun are big trophies too, but they did no get high reviews. Not that Im a fan of these other dramas, but I quite appreciate the honest reviews I see. If something is extremely dull, just tell me it's dull. Otherwise it sounds like a bunch of crappy lies.

I drink water all the time, I know how water taste like. I can imagine it to have a bit .01% sourness or sweetness if I get overly so creative. But some reviewers here made it sound like, well water actually taste like honey if that is your taste and you like honey... how is that logic? This drama is slow and boring but if you like boring stuff, you will find it engaging because this is your type? Since when have boring became the biggest trending type?

Where/what you see peeple complain about? Just cuz about she doesn't fight? LOLL Ariel Lin ROCKS so much when playing little Huang Rong in LOCH, her fighting was so fast and swiftly beautiful!!! Even though Lyi Tong has dance skills but her fight is so slow and badly. It looked like dancing but it's not dancing, fighting but it's also not fighting. I do not like it.
Ariel Lin moves were so fast and unique, it made me wanted to copy them because she was that cool. She is one of the most amazing chinese girls when it comes to fighting! I laughed my ass off at Princess Agents slow motion punches, slow running, and slow flyings too. I couldn't believe people so blind to think something turtle slow like that...is actually something they call kick ass? It's a shame the little kids who drama played the human Mulan fight even way better than that!
Some peole must want to nitpick with Ariel cause she's way better in acting, maybe she will steal too much lime light from their idol. Ariel Lin is not fighting in this drama cause the storyline say so and she did a very good job with that. I bet even if she fights in the drama, peole will still not be sitting still and just riot more jealous complainings. Seriously, lots of the skills Ariel has, none of the other actresses has it.

urm she is a very good actress. Aside from her personal life getting critcize, I don't get the heck why everybody try to stick the idol status into her position when she is a well established actress. They think she is a godess and rating queen, but only mediocore actress. That very wrong. She didnt depend on her face to get famous. Her face was rather weird, it was square / rectangled chin. She didnt fit in with the beauty standard at the beginning in her early career. But it was her acting that made people like her and start finding her pretty. Then comes many actresses starting to try to have the same type of face like hers, and they try to act like her too.
Yangmi has a great personality and professionalism too, also a leader too. I never heard of her creating troubles to any other stars working with her. Not many actresses are all well rounded like this.

Reba has lots of haters too. So it is possible that some haters might just pretend to be Reba or Yanmi fans and can create a war between them two, under the name of protecting their idols. Reba was the rising star, and that is usually a threat to some other stars. Looks like now she is famous and no longer the rising one, made peole even angrier. They stick Reba name as the attacker to every other actresses too, not only Yangmi.
