@Ep 9 ML says: "Don't mind what my mother said; I'll figure out a way about the proposal" Uhm, uhm, did I miss something-- is another part cut? There was never a scene involving his mother and talk of proposal that I'm aware of. ahh Confusion FL was made out to be upset that he's visiting her at his will, leaving her to wait-- which barely makes sense. Having his mother deny the proposal or say something nasty, now that makes sense for FL to be angry and seal her windows. Is this just another case of them cutting out a part of the story or footage? (Like with the waterfall scene?) I'm not even aware of us meeting ML's family outside of his brother and father at court / entertainment venues.
It's nice to see overbearingly annoying as a spice to bizarrely compliment FL's intelligence-- fluffy and uncomplicated as the drama may be atm. Annoyingly charming... A confident, self-assured nuisance? Nice to catch a break from heavy-handed, narcissistic scheming and exposition overload. Hope the vibe and characters remain constant.
I badly want to watch this drama because of the good reviews I've read. I need to be convinced why to watch it…
A Historical genre tag in asian drama doesnt mean period piece, i.e, realistic boundaries regarding the laws of nature. I've not finished the series yet myself, only a handful of episodes in, so I can't laud it honestly. But what I can say is most asian drama requires a higher level of suspension of disbelief to enjoy it. If you decide you are unable to do that, your best bet is to watch more serious period piece based shows that are historical dramas where magical realism isn't used. Magical realism doesn't always have to be more overt, sometimes it's simply "wire-fu" in non-xianxia shows as it does cross the threshold of the laws of nature-- which seems to be what's making you cringe here. Good luck in whatever choice you make.
As Snoop once said, "Drop it like it's hot." I think this is the worst written FL I have ever come across to date in memory. I can deal with naivety until a character growth arc... but in episode 3 I think they scooped her brain out and decided she's better as a golem. Imagine how well a series like this could have gone if hypnosis was treated more like a spy technique-- given it's regarded in the show as a "secret" to her specific region-- while keeping her halfway representative of a human with brain cells. FL deserved better, lmao. RIP, GG. Dropped after ep 3.
Very nice drama, I would definitely have to agree, the ML was truly the best part of this show. Lacks romance,…
Lmao, oh, hey, the one person I have in my friends list! I thought your name looked familiar xD dead. But yes'm (': Your thoughts would be much appreciated ^^

Lacks romance-- so like, none at all, or just little screen time given to it? I started this and put it on hold ages ago, would love to know whether to drop it fully or not. Romance is my drug of choice. )': Thanks if you answer {:
Genuine question, how excessive is the BL in this? Is it full-blown (I can't imagine it with Chinese censorship)…
I think the simplest way I would describe the difference is (using anime/manga terminology here): is it BL or yaoi? Is it GL or yuri? Implicit versus overt. The difference is made more concrete in live action asian drama, for obvious reasons.
Just by reading the synopsis (haven't watched it) it sounds very similar to Love is Sweet-- friends in HS, later corporate/business world, where their misunderstanding of eachother creates issues until they both learn they're different than what they initially assumed of the other. I have seen Lost Romance, that takes patience because it is very, very tropey (on purpose, it's self aware) and has what -some- might consider a very annoying FL. Really, she's more along the lines of an anti-hero. It's also a flip-script narrative, but double over. It is a good watch if you know what you're getting into. Definitely one of the better TDrama's out there.
