HT's language to express love is 'Acts of Service' unlike JX, which is why she doesn't see it so obviously.
JX's love language seems more to be 'Words of Affirmation', but HT is a man of few words, and that's one of the reasons JX is not entirely convinced of his love.

Ah, true he tried much more in the novel, maybe I'm taking the 2 SYCs as 1, but here he did wait patiently for her, and she never seemed to have any time for him anymore. He really became a side character in her story, maybe even less. Nevertheless, all I stated was that imo he ain't a bad guy.

No, you're right. I don't think he loves her. He hasn't forgotten his first love (most probably first) JX, but they just weren't meant to be. What's the guy going to do, take some time to heal and move on. He won't be able to forget her, nor can he get back together with her. Why not agree to be with someone who wants to be with him and have a stable life instead? I guess that's all that's going on with him.
He knows things might change soon when the whole Hanhai thing uncovers. She's with XC and is JX's bff, what if…
Nothing to spoil yet, their story wasn't in the novel and I haven't seen anything about them in any of the previews or teasers too.
But my understanding is that she will distance herself from him soon, maybe give the SZZ guy a chance (or some other guy) which won't last long. When the fogs get clear between LiLi and XYX, they'll get back together.

He's a person who likes stability and it's more natural that he settles with someone he knows rather than go for someone new. He knows WQZ from college and she's been around all this time. He didn't really know the reason but she was always gentle and kind towards him.
She helped him a lot with his family and job, and emotionally supported him. He sees her to be the kind of person with whom he can have a life he wants and needs.
