So looks like, Zhang Zi Yu was introduced to trigger some sort of jealousy in MCH, which would perhaps push her towards YZM.

They're trying to keep the mystery of his character to make people keep wondering. The dart hitting bullseye as he was talking about having a good start with MCH with He Dong also makes one think if he's still having ulterior motives. But that is contradictory to the emotional development he's been shown to have.

Idk why people are saying they didn't expect a confession so soon. It was clear from his behaviour and actions that he had fallen for her. He had also been trying to ask her out to let her know.
