I don't think people understand what DID means. All of the people here are kind of blaming the FL for not choosing 2ML. Yes he's more likable, more charming, more handsome, well mannered, and a kind soul. Definitely giving the second lead syndrome. He's the total opposite of the ML.
But the FL has something known as DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). And what also comes with that? Amnesia. FL doesn't have any memories of 2ML and Hye Ri being together at all. Eun Ho only figured out about this 2FL, only through background clues and after talking with that doctor. Even then she didn't exactly knew whether she was dating him or not. She didn't even know she was meeting with her doctor as Hye Ri. And this amnesia is true for most real world cases of DID as well.
Imagine you had DID, you dated a man for a month in one of your alters and you forget everything about it after switching alters. And that man comes after you when you are in your real aler and talks about dating you and missing you. You'll be shocked and probably avoid that man. It will take time to settle things up and undestand the situation. And even then, will you fall in love for that man? No. Because now he's just a man who's chasing after you for your alter self. You have no clue of him other than the fact that your alter self dated him. Yes he seems nice and kind, but still that a very much complecated situation.
On the other hand you are still in love with your ex. even after 4 years of break up. Bit extream. But at the same time, not so extream, when you were together for 8 years, living together, almost married. And even after one sided break up, you are seeing him daily for the past 4 years. It's not like you flip a switch and your feelings dissapear from your life.
And her DID is mostly due to the trauma she faced. They announced her sister dead. Her long time relationship was broken. She tried to live as Hye Ri noticing Hye Ri was happy always. She tried to find happiness she lost by becoming Hye Ri. But she quickly lost control and developed DID.
Yes the ML is a bit questionable. Borderline toxic with or without his knowing. But Eun Ho was enjoying every single moment with him when he was there for her. Every second of it it was joy to her. It was same for him as well. He also loves Eun Ho as much as Eun Ho to him. Notice that Eun Ho never changed to HyeRi after the elevator kiss scene. The only problem with ML is the fact that he doesn't understand how his actions affects Eun Ho which is his falut to be honest. He kind of lacks this empathy. He might also think that it's his life mission to take care of the grand mothers when it's not actually true. They don't expect him to take care of them forever, they want them to find a girl and be happy. But the words he heard as a child might be ringing in his head, "in return you have to take care of 5 older women". He might need therapy as well tbh. He's also traumatized with his childhood. Yes ML didn't look for ML when she was not there for a month. But she had applied holidays for the period. He was also going through stuff. He lost his 9pm anchor position which was his dream. It was his chance to show him self to his mother. His supervisor was passive agressively blaming him all the time. That mad 9pm anchor was making fun of him. His grand mother was fighting cancer. Things weren't great for him as well. But these might seem as excuses to viewers since the man is suppose to be strong and bear everything in straight face.
I get people hate ML for his behavior, But what I don't get is people shipping 2ML with Eun Ho. They'll most probably have no change together. If Eun Ho dissapears and only Hye Ri's here, then it's the best choice for Hye Ri. But would Hye Ri exist without Eun Ho?
