I think that it's just to show how his mother's LOVE was an obsession and not the typical mother love compared to Ms. Noh and Ha Nee. The title was " Was it love? " Yeon woo even told her that she doesn't love him, she's just obsessed with him.
I think the first episodes are kind of cringy and boring imo. trying so hard to be funny, those typical clichés situations, also story and characters seems typical, etc.
However, the more you watch it, the more you see that their story is kind of complex. I understand their point of view as both them doesn't want to feel the hurt again (FL forgetting him and ML wanted to take revenge). I did have the same reaction as some of the viewer here but remember, if you see your guy "kissing" someone else, started acting indifferently, and leaving you alone with a baby, not even looking for you 14 years. You'll understand her hatred. Sure, it is a misunderstanding, only we, the viewers, know it. but if you try to talk to someone who felt that way, they will tend to avoid it at all cost since their hidden feelings will just burst out the moment it gets triggered.
