Yes, this is very clearly sign posted. It’s his saving grace and his undoing at the same time. He even asked her to run away with him. The stalking girl noticed and started to make use of her similarly to the sister - when she saw a picture of the siblings, she quickly let her hair down to look more like girl in the photo. He knows this is happening too, but let’s it roll to an extent. His psychological damage, loneliness, jealousy, but also wanting the girl to be happy and have her own life choices at the same time are superbly shown.
this being 40eps long is scaring me, hopefully we won't be going in circles
The second half is a huge improvement - acting really ups it’s game, characters develop, underlying reasons gradually revealed. All the build up was worth it.
Is it legal in your country to create such a list, aimed at ruining their professional lives? Many of these people fit in two categories: * unproven hearsay (in a western democracy, this goes under the ‘“innocent until proven guilty” clause) * proven, spent conviction and therefore should have a chance to start again. You seeem to think all humans operate in a black and white, never changing moral system. In reality, people evolve, suffer, regress and progress constantly. “Naming and shaming” a 50 year old for something they said or a minor, spent offence 25 years ago is ridiculous in the extreme. What’s the point of law systems if this trial by mob/internet witch hunt is perpetuated?
you can watch it on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOtRkbrZ3CUbut you have to turn on CC to see the sub
If you watch on YouTube but via Google chrome or Safari on iPad, you can switch on autotranslate to English. Break prepared to “re-translate” everything into understandable English and… have the occasioal laugh. Some google translate is hilarious - computer generated.
Cinematography stunning, story development really good - puts across the trauma of occupation really clearly without being too preachy. Good mix of tension, back stories and a little bit of comic relief - Zhang Han In that Sherlock outfit, complete with pipe and those shoes! Considering the time it had, good character development for Zhang’s character again, shows his acting range, from fearful bystander/collaborator to something else. Torture scenes are short but incredibly shocking - even for one who’s watched prisoner of war camp dramas. Again, a chance to see Aaron Kwok’s range, which is hero-like but a little still up to that point. Good chance to see the different faces of a city under different layers of occupation too. A good watch for many reasons.
