Review The Witch
I agree with most of your review. I stuck with it because I hoped it would come together in a sensible way at some point, but, it just didn’t, not for me anyway. The female lead felt like just a prop for the male lead. The actress and the character deserved to have more substance! There was so much there to explore. I don’t want to minimize either lead actor because both were compelling and did great work with what they were given. Although the male lead acknowledged himself as a stalker in 8(or was it 9?) the seriousness of what he was doing and how creepy it really was cannot be ignored. I finished it and wondered afterward why I didn’t just drop it early. My conclusion? The actors. They were worth watching even though the story was not.
