"Directors Note

This film is a story about an honesty. We gets afraid to be honest to ourselves because of social consciousness or inner shame. However, our bodies respond to the voice of desire without any deceit. This film is a story that a student, Seungmo reduces his suppressed feelings after he gets oil massage and feels the desire of his body.

All of characters in this film bear different types of suppression. Seungmo is hiding his homosexual identity. Gwangbae disguises his inferiority complex of appearance by violent words and behavior. A massager, Doohoon is a person who insists to live like a body which reacts directly to instinct but he has the duplicity most deviated from the truth. A middle-age man, Daewon who is socially successful demonstrates a different type of honesty in which he separates his publicly virtuous image and perverted desire in private. Film tries to discover ourselves among the various characters who respond to psychological suppression.

Massage room is a main stage and a space where the honesty of body conflicts directly against the hesitancy of heart. In the massage room, we are requested to be honest for exposing desires of body explicitly in naked. In this space, Seungmo finds a clue which will cure his hesitancy of heart as he takes a remedy for pain of body. But the room which was shown as a truthful space reveals the fact that it was hiding another wall of desire. This symbolizes a multi-layered structure of heart which makes us difficult to be honest. Lastly, the national anthem is a metaphor about a sociocultural education which represses our instinct."
