You stated more things that you didn't like and still gave it a 9.5? what about the story, character depth? its very flat. They barely communicate with each other and there is no character growth.
I want to offer a different perspective, if you don’t mind. Body language is part of the storytelling. In the…
They cut pretty much all the dialogue from the manga, there is no emotional progression except 2 kisses and a sudden breakup. They don't actually TALK things out. This is the scriptwriters fault. They are just as stubborn as they started with the added gay curiosity. We dont see them grow to accept each other.
The dancing in this movie is the romance. Them dancing together represents the stages of romance from the courtship…
I see what you are trying to say but I just don't agree, sorry. It's such a stretch to say the dance is the romance. We needed more dialogue and less choppy cuts. The dance was beautiful though. I would even argue the two didn't grow much emotionally as they are just as stubborn a d no communicative as they started just with a couple added kisses.
The dance just felt like watching two professionals show off their skills beautifully. It's just not enough for deep story progression.
This was underwhelming. I don't think I'm cutout for artsy films because much of this came off as telling not…
I agree, I don't feel they yearning. It comes across more like gay curiosity. I don't see the intense desire for each other and they do not work through their problems together. They just mention them and move on.
There's only a couple of scenes where they actually communicate, in my opinion, communication is key and the script is so lacking. They really tried hard and put a lot of energy into the dance but this left everything else flat. There is a miniscule amount of romance and they do not discuss their issues or come to an understanding, they just state a few things about themselves and then CUT next scene.
Romance without communication in this day and age is just lazy writing. It's just eye candy with a barely existent plot. You never actually see the 10 dance competition. I highly doubt there will be a sequel as this is rare for JBLs.
They have their first kiss which is spontaneous passion and then it cuts to months in the future where they are breaking up. It's extremely choppy. All the money went into the dance, which is beautiful however, the actors were not given much of a script to work with.
They also do not progress as characters, for a successful story they need to grow together to accept each other. They dont . They remain as stubborn and stiff as they started just with added gay curiosity which is fizzled out very quickly as the dance is more important so they break up.
EXACTLY LIKE WDYM "SEE YOU AT 10DANCE??? I NEED THEM TO SHOW IT NOWWW
They barely even spoke to each other the entire movie lol the script/screenwriter was clearly asleep when making this. 🤣😭😭 I have a feeling there won't be a sequel as these actors don't seem to keen on BL from what I've read online. This was probably just a hype grabbing project. Such a shame ...
20% dialogue/story
10% romance
