Who blames whom? Let's just move forward, shall we?

I loved the drama for the protrayal of its female lead. One of the most "sane" FL in the Kdrama universe. Yes, she is unfortunate, has been unfortunate since her childhood, but she doesn't act pitiful all the time. She puts up a strong face. She doesnt go about crying in front of everyone for the difficulties in her life. This is one of the few dramas where FL doesn't have a best friend with whom she will have soju and trauma dump everything on her. Instead, she keeps things to herself. She doesn't like playing games, doesn't misunderstand the ML. While the FL is in her thirties, neither of her parents act pitiable for her not being married yet. Yes, the mother has anger issues but only until she gets to know the full story.
The show has the right balance of how a woman in her thirties is - not someone who acts silly, throws tantrums like a child and acts pitiful just because she doesnt have love in her life - Instead, someone whose brains work all fine, accepts the reality, and also accepts love when it comes knocking at the door, and doesnt shy away from expressing it.

The other thing that this show does best is comedy! It isn't created out of dialogues, but is more of behavioral and situational. And that hits hard, esp when it comes around when the drama is going on a serious tone. FL's amma and appa are the best friends she could have in her life. And the interaction between them create some of the best LOL moments in the drama.

Overall, an enjoyable drama! Go for it!

Do give it a try

It really should’ve been titled “Chūgakkō Kyōshi Nikki” instead. The female lead is clearly at the center of the story, while everyone else, including the male lead, feels more like supporting cast. I was initially hesitant to watch it since it revolves around a teacher-student romance, especially with the student being underage. However, the series handles the subject with surprising sensitivity, beautifully depicting the teacher’s emotional journey once their relationship comes to light.

The characters are well written and actors have done justice to it. The female lead is kind yet strong, but never pitiful. What stood out the most to me is the student's mother's character. She would do everything within her means to make sure her kid doesn't go astray and finishes his education. Her character is a blend of rainbow themes, being warm and loveable at the beginning to strict and terse, seemingly heartless as the story progresses. The school principal, too, is portrayed with such warmth and empathy; her eyes alone convey the compassion one expects from someone in her role.
The only annoying character is female lead's fiance whose feelings keeps ping-ponging between 2 women, never really sure of what he wants, or may be both ;-)

Story and pacing is perfect. The narrative is strong and well-paced, no filler moments or unnecessary dragging. Every character serves a purpose, contributing meaningfully to the story’s progress. I especially loved how the plot unfolds over several years, allowing the characters to grow naturally without rushing to a resolution.

The cinematography is stunning — from lush green rice fields to sparkling blue oceans and winding coastal roads, it’s an absolute visual delight.

What could’ve made it a 10/10:
The male lead often feels too passive. If he had shown more initiative truly stepping into a leading role instead of being passively driven by the circumstances, it would’ve elevated the show to greatness.

Overall:
A deeply emotional, heartfelt series that left a lasting impression.

Unique concept but execution falls flat!

The series begins on a strong note with a promising plot and likable characters. The first few episodes feel refreshing, even if the main storyline is somewhat familiar. It avoids the usual K-drama clichés and features a smart, mature female lead. Unfortunately, midway through, it starts to lose its shine, and the plot becomes muddled and hard to follow.
Although the story keeps moving, it lacks meaningful development.
It’s a unique idea, but the execution doesn’t quite live up to its potential.
Music - The background score is mostly unremarkable, though a few brief piano pieces stand out as genuinely beautiful moments.

Surprisingly good mini-drama!

I started this drama with no expectation. I was surprised to find it has a great story. It has its share of romance, love, mystery, supernatural elements. The plot is gripping which keeps one at the edge till the last episode. Since it's a mini-drama, it did feel a bit rushed.
All in all, an extremely enjoyable mini-drama!

Absolutely Perfect!

No drama comes to close this! As perfect as it can get. Great story, great scriptwriting, mature characters, mature romance, talks of virtue, leads don't act stupid and dumb, are very smart.
they had story enough to cover through all 73 episodes, doesn't feel dragging at all.
This drama destroyed all other dramas out there.

A MASTERPIECE!

Rarely comes a drama as this one which does everything perfectly - story, direction, acting, dialogues, pacing, ending. It's a drama with mature themes, hence would appeal to only a particular section of audience. Don't get swayed by lower ratings. It's a heartfelt, touching story!
After watching 100s of asian dramas, I can say this is the only one which gets close to 10 rating.
While the first half of the story is more realistic, the latter part is a bit dramatic, but entertainment factor is 10 on 10.

Annoying!

This review is against the majority of reviews - but here is how I found the drama.
I attempted twice to watch the drama given its extremely high ratings. But get could'nt get beyond ep 1 when I first started watching it and beyond ep 3 in my 2nd attempt.
The characters are extremely annoying and harsh in their speech esp. the female lead. She completely disregards everyone around her. The male lead is another annoying character who will keep tailing the female lead even though she keeps shouting at him all the time ever since they were kids. Like does this guy has even a pinch of self-respect or what! Their actions are completely childish and it is not entertaining also!
