I’ve picked up quite a bit of K slang - daebak, heul, omo etc - and tried it out on a Korean friend who has lived in the UK for many years. She stared at me blankly - of course it was like my children saying to their grandmother “wagwan blud” or “sick, bro”.
Thank you for a very interesting article. I agree about live shooting, though wasn’t the Netflix drama Crash Landing done like that? I read that they had to postpone filming because the weather was so cold and the crew and actors were exhausted - Son Ye Jin had to go to hospital at one point. I will be sad if K dramas become increasingly geared towards Western audiences as one of the reasons I like them and find them so refreshing is because they are different. Having said that, I don’t think Mr Queen could ever be made in the West!
