I'm sorry to say it outloud. But after King land, i'm not sure if i can handle to see another brainless show,…
I agree with you that KTL was necessary for his portfolio, and the fact that the character is a very green flag, and light as he wanted to after TRS. I was a bit skeptical when he picked KTL from the 100 over dramas script he received (he mentioned in one of the interview) after his surge of popularity from TRS which I didn't watch due to costume/period drama is not really the genre I will pick as I cannot relate to the time, i like him in Confession (2019 drama) a relatively heavy drama. I watch KTL because I want to see how he pull off such character and to my surprise, I think he did a great job pulling off the comedic, sweet, gentleman, thoughtful character full of warmth. Though the plot does make me wonder or worry about the little script there is which he confirmed in one of the behind the scene that "audience will be surprise when they read the script" because many scenes are ad-lib. Besides that, both leads characters are very nicely written layers with emotions of self-love, its a story where both of them grow together, be themselves working hard at their own worlds (I especially like it when they are so supportive of each other) but still find a middle ground to love, laugh, and live together, without compromising the roots they are from. This is the most realistic happy ending that I have seen in dramaland. After this drama, I am very convinced he can pull off any character in the future, and he definitely deserve the award from TRS.
Too much cockiness maybe ? Even I like myself some kdramas I have started and feel a certain kind of cockiness…
I look up those dramas after you mentioned and see the similarities. It's an interesting discovery. I have always thought red light green light is a common childhood game in many asian countries, but the similarities of the scenes are hard to be overlooked. I gave it a try because i'm curious how can it be so popular and friends around me keep talking about it, i wasnt very invested in it because survival game genre is never a preference of mine and its my first time watching such drama (i didnt watch the two japanese dramas/films) overall i just feel like its coherently written, well directed, every scene set designs are vibrant and never seen before in a kdrama, all actors acting pretty on points, being on netflix also push some boundaries on topics that are normally shy away or censored in korea local broadcast channel, but all that games set aside, the only reason i finished is i want to know who the mastermind behind it. Thanks for the information

i am curious of the same question you are asking. btw, your dramas list that you really love, i would say 70% is similar to mine. i really love hospital playlist (this makes me feel a lot of emotion, laugh and cry) and extraordinary woo too!
I feel the same but I can't place it....maybe we're falling out of the Hallyu era lol
Thank you for sharing a list of examples. I have watched some of the dramas you have listed too, and agree on some of your must watch like My girl and secret garden. Now i understand what you mean by authenticity coming from. I seldom watch family drama though i started picking them up in last year because i got curious of how it will be like from the sypnosis but like you, i don't have the patience so i kinda watch in a fast forward mode, especially in real life when i am already experiencing some extend of family drama, it gets too frustrating to watch sometimes but good thing is i watch 2 eps as it airs like a routine for a breather sometimes because of slow pace. I tend to choose dramas that are more relatable in society nowadays, romance will not be my first choice when it comes to choosing a drama but most of the drama has romance in the mix like you say. It's great to hear your thought.

Sorry i might have replied to the wrong message about netflix dramas, since you don't use Netflix. I am not sure which parts do i sound like i try so hard to make myself look good, and i don't see where is it that i talked bad about those popular dramas, i just said i didn't watch them but I didn't say its bad. anyway, it doesn't matter since i have replied to the wrong message. :)

Proabably is the later that you are falling out of hallyu era. I personally has been picky with netflix original, but those i watched are pretty good, still has the authencity of kdrama drama like move to your heaven, D. P, the glory, celebrity.. I didnt watch sweet home, uncanny encounter or the zombie show, all of us are dead. Perhaps is the choices of the netflix originals you pick up 😉
