Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I agree with much of what you’ve said. You’re right that China engages in assertive military posturing, but there’s a big difference between posturing about war and actually waging it.
Since 1949, China’s wars have been limited and regional: Tibet, Korea, India, Vietnam, and border or maritime clashes. For decades now, it has mostly engaged in military signaling rather than invasions. The U.S., by contrast, has waged near-constant wars and interventions worldwide: Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Somalia, plus countless coups and proxy wars in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. It has fought in over 80 countries since 1776, and remains the only nation ever to use nuclear weapons, killing over 100,000 civilians instantly in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
On transparency: I agree China censors heavily, but many U.S. operations from coups in Iran, Guatemala, and Chile to secret bombings in Laos and CIA proxy wars were hidden from the public for decades. That’s hardly full transparency.
So yes, we should hold all major powers accountable, but consistently. China’s behavior today is largely regional posturing, while U.S. behavior has historically been global and interventionist. Both deserve scrutiny, but if any country’s record shows an obsession with "power and war" (as the original comment stated), it's the United States.
We could say it's just a fiction, but it's funny how the shoe fits for Chinese people. I mean, isn't their country…
This is some pretty blatant anti-Chinese sentiment. There are plenty of aspects about China to disagree upon - the 3Ts for example - Taiwan, Tibet, Tiananmen. Then there's Xinjiang of course and a multitude of other human rights problems and environmental issues. However saying they are warmongers is just not true. China has not had a war since the Sino-Vietnamese War in 1979. America on the other hand has been at almost constant war since 1776 (with only about 20 years total where they have not been at war with someone). Debate the facts, not fiction. The world is already divided enough. Peace!
Like we all knew he was gonna sacrifice himself for the CGI baby but the real death we didn't see coming was when the plot died. Absolute shite. I really hope that policeman becomes a scuba diver instead...
Oh wow, this is so much fun! I haven't laughed out loud like this in a long time. Like those songs describing what is going on in the scene are absolutely hilarious 🤣 A Dream within a Dream or A Parody within a Parody?
Just finished it was really good. The school uniform looked like the Japanese soldiers uniform minus the hat in…
I know I'm 8 months late and I don't remember the scene you're talking about, but... I'm pretty sure the Nazi symbol you mentioned is actually the Buddhist swastika. They are not the same. If you go to Asia you'll see that symbol all the time at temples
Yikes... that was like watching paint dry. Was this written by AI or something? I feel like somebody asked ChatGPT to write them a script for a psychological thriller and didn't even bother paying for the premium version.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be available on any streaming services in my part of the world yet so I watched it on kisskh.co I really hope Netflix or Viki pick it up though!
No season 1 is a complete story by itself. I believe S2 will either follow the story of the FL (probably showing life at the girls school rather than the boys school) or introduce a new bad guy.
Oh wow, what a hidden gem! I heard absolutely nothing about this drama going in. I saw someone mention the 80s nostalgia and comedy so I figured what the heck, that sounds fun. I had no idea this was going to become one of my all time favs though. I had such a blast watching this... Thanks Boyhood, it's been a pleasure! 9.5/10
Its really PTSD not dementia, I dont know why they called it that. His trigger is snow cus he saw the 300 children…
Yeah I know. Don't mind me. I'm just salty because I spent my time watching this drama rather than making healthy life choices. I'm sure I'd like it a lot more if I didn't decide to watch in the middle of exams :D
I just finished binge watching this instead of studying for an exam I have on Tuesday... let's pray I have a really inspired Monday and manage to study a semester worth of classes in one day. Anyway, only scoring this 7 in the end. I really liked the concept and damn Zhang Ling He is one fine looking man... but there were way too many moments where this drama was unintentionally really funny. I mean I love C dramas, so I'm used to just accepting made-up completely unrealistic things BUT snow dementia??? Does WebMD know about that one, because I'm gonna use it if I fail this exam on Tuesday. Also I really liked the darkness to Xie Wei's character in the first half of the drama but then it was like the script writers also developed snow dementia and suddenly he was all "hi, I'm a big red flag" all the time, snow or no snow. Hey, I'm all for dark morally ambiguous characters, like yes please, but he morphed into manipulative man baby real quick. Not as hot sadly... *sigh*
Not a 9.2 but still a good drama. I gave it an 8.5 because it had a lot of great moments I really liked. Major plotholes and things that make no sense though... even if like me, you're mostly watching with your brain turned off :D I didn't really like the ending either. I feel like it sends the wrong message about finding happiness with the life you're given. Like they literally made that very argument throughout the majority of the show and then at the very end decided that actually happiness is found in fame and fortune. Really? Nahhh...
i don’t think this poster will be topped by whatever comes after filming. i’d love to be proven wrong but…
I know I'm 3 months late, but yes, totally agree about the poster thing in Chinese dramas. Like I so wish they kept the beautiful artwork they have before filming because often the final version looks like something that would have been really cool... in 2003.
Hahaha, I know right! I see these comments all the time and then when you check they are anything but picky... I have like one 10/10 on my list and even I wouldn't claim to be that picky. I generally rate higher because I don't like being mean :D
I'm honestly so disappointed by this series. It took a massive nose dive the last few episodes and it was already really slow paced and just bland to begin with. I like both the main actors a lot but this series is definitely not an 8.7 in my opinion. Just the usual MDL inflation. Having said that, if you have the time to spare then watch away and make up your own mind on it. Definitely not a bad drama but if you like a lot of romance or a good plot I'd say this lacks both :(
Woah! Some 'proper' actors have made it onto this list, not just the ex-Boy Band guys put here by their fan clubs.…
Hahaha yeah I always find these lists hilarious too. Everyone votes for the same people regardless of what the list is for... Super helpful, thanks :P
To be fair though, the top five aren't awful choices this time. Lee Je Hoon and Namkoong Min are really talented actors. But I know there are incredible Korean actors out who are probably much better than these guys... but alas I'm just your average MDL drama addict. I know the "good" stuff is out there - but I mostly watch the "good looking" stuff instead lol. Don't hate the player, hate the game :D
You are completely missing the point any of us were making. First things first we all agreed that this is not…
No worries. I was just curious 😂 I actually enjoy both Kdramas and Cdramas but I agree that Korea has superior contemporary romance dramas too. I mostly enjoy the historical/period dramas from China. I don't mind the episode count thing for the most part because personally I find the hour long episodes in Kdramas harder to sit through. Anyway, best of luck with your hunt for romcoms. Hopefully we will get some good ones soon! 😂

Hahaha oh dear :D Just out of curiosity, why do you hate Cdramas? I'm not a huge fan of romcoms myself but Cdramas have loads of them. Too cheesy maybe?
