Zhou Ye, you acted very well. In my opinion, your appearance as a student in Dream of Golden Years still suits you and looks great. Is it still possible to see Zhou Ye in another school drama??
I need a second season—not because the first one didn't wrap up well, but because I want to see more of Xia Xiaolan and Zhou Cheng's interactions and story in the modern world. Their love is so mature and sincere; it feels like they are destined for each other, because no matter where they are, they always find their way back together 😔🤍
The script is impeccably structured, ensuring a seamless flow without any plot holes. The acting across the board is superb, particularly Zhou Ye, who carries the drama exceptionally well. From her portrayal of a simple country girl to her transformation into a successful professional in the city—and her role as an office worker in the modern world—the nuances she brings to each phase are remarkable. This is the true definition of a female-centric drama. The casting is spot-on, with visuals that perfectly align with their respective roles, which is a key factor in my high evaluation of the series. I have no issues with the ending; it felt logical and grounded. While some viewers hoped for a time-travel twist where the protagonist remains in the past, the current regulations make that difficult. Ultimately, the ending delivers a meaningful message about the importance of accepting and facing reality. Overall Rating: 9.5/10
I hope Zhou Ye gets the chance to work with a high-quality production team like the one behind Dream of Golden Years again ☺️
I was actually a bit hesitant to watch this at first. Honestly, the costumes felt slightly outdated compared to other dramas from the same year, especially since Chinese historical dramas are known for their stunning outfits. But I really wanted to see Zhou Ye, and after watching it, I have no regrets. The acting was superb, even though the cast was quite young at the time. The plot was also solid, and I really enjoyed this type of storyline. So, even though the costumes were a bit behind the times, the excellent acting more than made up for it. While the ending was disappointing for many, it doesn't lower my rating of the show. It’s now one of the dramas I highly recommend
I actually prefer dramas with heavy plots and complex stories. I usually avoid slow burn or slice of life shows because I get bored easily. However, this drama is different. I didn't have high expectations at first and only started watching for Zhou Ye after LOTFG, but it turned out to be quite good. Even though it's a light drama, I never felt bored. It has become one of my comfort dramas, and I’ll definitely rewatch it whenever I'm unsure what to watch or after finishing something heavy.
Ahh so many negative and rumor about zhou ye because of this drama, 1. Fans war between yezi and wzq fans but…
I am aware of the negative rumors surrounding Zhou Ye regarding this drama. Even though she is the lead, it feels unfair that she has to bear all the blame. Even issues regarding other actors' screen time and roles are being unfairly directed at her. Those actors surely understood their roles before accepting them, which implies their consent. Yet, their fans refuse to accept this and take their frustration out on Zhou Ye, even though it is not her responsibility. I find their behavior baffling. Out of all her upcoming projects, this one seems to be receiving the most backlash
They literally haven't filmed many important arcs. Most of ML audience is very disappointed. It won't be like…
It's understandable for novel readers to feel disappointed when many things are changed, it’s a common occurrence with drama adaptations. Personally, I think the drama's script is actually better because the story feels deeper and more complex. Of course, it's all about personal preference and perspective.
