I think the sword realizes who he is and is fulfilling the Asura Lord's evil plan. I think part of his father is in YY or for the father to come YY has to die some how. They have been alluding to that throughout the show. Hence Yy's visions of a unknown past.

In the new trailer he tells the Supreme Lord that after he is done is duties he wants to give up his post and live a mortal life as Tang Zhou.

Could the awkwardness be due to his foot injury at the time of filming?
