I agree with your assessment, the story worked for me the first couple of episodes but it became repetitive and they should have added their own spin to it, which is a shame because I really like the actors (the main two and Asuka) and it had a lot of potential in my eyes

I agree with the acting and Shin's character assessment. every time I see the Sensei, I get the feeling he has dementia, because he forgets and misplaces things so easily but remembers stuff 10 years ago. I find it hard to believe too, that Minato has feelings for him and is attracted to him, because the little interactions we saw, didn't look like that to me. Well, he met Shin when he was a minor highschool student and Minatos morals tell him that he shouldn't feel attracted and I suspect that he has a generel problem in accepting his feelings and probably fears that he might hold Shin back, who should enjoy his youth, therefore, I understand the mental gymnastics, even though it is so obvious that he has feelings for Shin and is attracted to him.
the skinny thing, I think it is so funny in eastern media when characters swoon about the muscular body of an actor who is more skinny than not and with very little muscles to be seen to a degree where Shin is packing in contrast. the main leads are good looking and my eyes are thankful that they combine attractiveness with talent and skills
