Thank you for your article. I got sucked into the world of Asian dramas in September 2018 thanks to “meteor garden“. Many of the shows you mentioned are high on my list especially someday or one day and goblin. Also my favorite young actor is Nam Da Reum Who I nicknamed “flash“ because he is the flashback version of pretty much every ML in South Korea. He’s such a wonderful actor and I’m glad that he’s finally getting a starring role even if it’s just a small web series.

I think the hardest part was the show also featured other "Music groups" that were actually comedians that I guess used to be on some Korean show called "gag concert". And the whole point was that none of them were actually musicians even though they were pretending to be so just a fact like these guys aren't actually sparkling. If you ever get a chance to watch it I recommend it. It's on Viki.

Oh I definitely know that's why I wanted to watch it. I just thought it was hilarious that they had them go on the show and perform a little bit of their actual song but pretend that it wasn't their actual song they were performing. They look like they had a lot of fun.

I am watching the actors who play Sparkling on the variety show the air is right after this drama on Friday nights. They are cracking me up because they're trying so hard to stay in character as the members of sparkling and yet they still perform a little bit of their own stuff. And it was great to see them promoting the drama without actually promoting it.

An explosion too? Interesting. Glad they left that one out :-)

I get why they need politics for the plot but ugh.....

I suppose that is true, but with how tight a rope his company has on him I find it difficult to believe they'd allow him to do a stunt like that. But again, it's just a show so I'm gonna let it go.

One minor grievance I have with the final scene of episode six is the fact that they were allowing a top star to do such a dangerous stunt on his own. In real life they would have a stunt man do something like that with a car in case it could injure them not that they want to injure the stunt man but that's what he is trained in. While I do understand it is for purpose of moving the plot along I do have issue with the fact that anyone would actually do that on a movie.

With everything else I need to fit in I'm sure they won't be able to fit it in. Then again they do focus on him a little bit so I suppose that might end up adding something in to get rid of him from the group eventually. I'm guessing in the end he won't be there.

Okay the scenes for me with him on the phone wasn't subbed when I watched. I thought that was what was happening but I wasn't sure. Thank you for clearing that confusion for me. He's always seemed like bad news from the beginning. In the web tune did he have anything to do with the guy leaving the group or any other bad stuff? Or was he kicked out before any of that happened? It seem like he was kicked out before any of that happened in the show so I'm assuming he was kicked out way before any of that as well.

I agree with you that her actions show that she is trying her hardest to respect the wishes of her friends and focus on her career. However, her heart is at war with her mind and we also get to see that. I think that's important to show because it indicates that she isn't an ice queen and really has a heart. And I also agree with you that from what we see in the preview after the accident she's definitely going to wake up and realize how easily she could've lost him. Of course as this is the world of K dramas she will probably still fight it and she will probably still pretend she didn't say "I like you" while he was unconscious. But hopefully it won't take too long because it does say that they're going to secretly date so it's got to happen at some point before the final episode.

I agree with the other commentator that nobody is aware of the past connection between Maha and Ryok. As far as all of them can tell it just seems like a connection out of nowhere which is kind of strange on how quickly they formed a bond. However, as we can tell from the different epilogues and flashbacks they've liked each other for a while now. If only they would open up and tell them that it might change things but maybe not.

Quick question regarding the webtoon. Who pursues who first? In this version he is putting in more of the effort though they haven't fully revealed if she pursued him more in the past. I know that their connection from when they were younger is not a thing in the webtoon so obviously that doesn't really matter in terms of the source material. But in the original source material did he pursue her like he is in this one?

I hope they end up going that route. There's still time for her to come to that realization after they actually get together. It would be nice for her to have gone that route to begin with but if she ends up saying that in the end I will be OK with that. That's also really hilarious about the fact Ryok ceases to exist when Li Ma comes into the room

I know the actresses gotten a lot of knocks on her character but like you I think it's realistic. Yes she is naïve and some what positive and optimistic but not overly. And I think like you I also would've had a hard time if that's how she was on the show. However that being said, I really wish she would've fought back a little bit more with Li Ma, but I'm sure that will come eventually.

So you read the webtoon? I know a lot of people who read it weren't happy with some of the changes. What are your feelings overall? I don't read web tunes so I just take shows at face value but it's always interesting to get the opinion of people who have read the source material. I know it's someone who has issues when my favorite books get turned in the movies that it can be difficult to enjoy the show just on its own merit when things are changed too much.

Right?! Me too!! I honestly thought they were going to go the fight route since they kept showing the two of them practicing that. I never once thought that it would come down to the car crash. It's not easy to surprise people these days. Very good use of misdirection.

Also sidenote… Are you watching "I married the anti-fan"? The reason I ask is because the actor who is playing Ji-Hak also has a small part as a music producer in that show.

I really love your assessment of the situation and I was kind of thinking that the epilogue was also intended to show us how Jae-Woo Made the mistake once before and won't do it again. Even though they did fight about her at the same time he won't make that mistake again.
Also, I agree with you I really do love how Ji-Hak has been really supportive of all the girls and isn't taking sides but helping them all to find peace. I really loved his 90% versus 10% speech. I feel as though he has really grown a lot because what happened all those years ago and he doesn't want to see it happen again. And I think he will definitely be very supportive of the relationship when it finally happens. Part of me does think that while the manager is working really hard to defuse the situation right now in the end I think he will help them as well. Still have another six episodes to go see how it all plays out.

OK I will give you that theory is a possibility. And I do agree that the three girls would want to support Yu Jin and probably had no clue that Ryok was the star. And to be honest that whole last part of the episode wasn't even what irritated me. Let's just hope that when he wakes up he doesn't have amnesia because that would be entirely way too cliché and more of a daytime soap kind of thing haha
