There is a good idea about an AR game lost somewhere in this mess and the technical presentation is surprisingly stellar with some cool visuals and epic soundtrack. But terrible pacing, absolutely unnecessary romance, extremely shallow characters, weird plot directions and boring dialogue makes this drama, a chore to sit through. Really disappointing.
On Boys over Flowers Season 2 Aug 18, 2018
This is basically below average romantic comedy with all the negative aspects and cliches, that this genre has to offer. Lots of soap and beating around the bush with very little of actual substance.

Writing is extremely forced, there are too many convenient accidental events, happening just for the sake of creating intrigue. The plot is paper thin here, that everything basically resolves around the love triangle/polygon and there isn’t much of anything else going on. Also it’s almost impossible not to compare the series to original, because it feels that a lot of ideas were taken from the original show, but somehow made even worse. Commentary of poor people or gap between rich and poor is basically non existing, parents are either terrible (Haruto’s father is miles away from Domyouji’s mother, I can’t help but compare) or absolutely useless to idiotic extent (like Oto’s mother).

Almost all characters lack proper introduction and feel like one dimensional cardboard cutouts, especially females. Oto is extremely pathetic and infuriating lead with no backbone. The girl just can’t make her mind up and drags the whole show with her. Though I liked, that Haruto does experience some sort of character growth during the show even if he starts up as an idiot. That might be the only redeeming value of Hana Nochi.

Also the pacing of the show is really poor. It probably would be a better idea to just read manga at your own pace, than sit through this boring adaptation with lots of padding. This drama is a waste of time.

hi..should i watch hana yori dango 1st or not?
It is mostly standalone show with only few cameos from the original, but nothing too important that you would feel lost. Though i would strongly advice to watch the original Hana Yori Dango, which is a much more superior show than this "spin-off", just for the reference of quality.

so, who will ended up with oto? tenma or sho?
Isn't this obvious with whom she ends?
Or just turn on the final episode and skip to the very end of it and you should get your answer.

My kdrama watching experience so far was extremely short. I finished only one show - Liar Game (liked it), and the other few more popular shows (W and Are you human too?) that i've tried didn't impressed me at all and made a pretty bad impression of modern korean dramas to me.

So because of the recommendation i am trying this one. And so far (after 2 episodes) it's not bad! Pretty nice slice of life with enjoyable and believable characters. Didn't like the new girl at first, but it's getting there.

P.S. If someone has some recommendations of kdramas that i could enjoy (preferably with a focus different than romance), please do mention them.

I think you should care about how characters “are supposed to be” especially if it’s an adaption. They have…
Still they aren't completely moving past their own story, there are references everywhere. They even go to Domyouji's mansion in the second episode...

And i repeat, I get that it's not about previous characters. I can appreciate the show, if past characters don't appear here, i just thought it would be a nice nod/easter egg especially with all the references, but if not, then whatever.

Talking about adapting. I just meant that you shouldn't need to read manga in order to judge the show for what it is. If i think that character is flawed for some reasons in a certain show, i don't really care that he is the same in manga (or whatever original material may be) "and that's how he is supposed to be". That's just bad character writing and that's all that matters to me. And that goes to all aspects of the show, whatever that show may be: original or adapted.

....have you read the manga?? Haruto is supposed to be a wimp. It's one of his insecurities that he tries hard…
No need to be angry. I get that this is an adaptation. I am just stating my disappointment with the main character, that's it. And by saying "unattractive" i didn't mean his looks. I personally just don't like his character, maybe the show will make me care about him, i hope it does. I just doubt it.

And no, i don't read the manga. And i don't intend to. You people, should really stop with that excuse. I don't care about how the show or its characters "are supposed to be", i care for what state the show IS in right now as its own thing.

And i get it that it's not about Tsukushi and Tsukasa, that's cool. Talking about steering away from manga, they already kind of did that - the series take place 10 years from original not 4 as it is in manga (if i heard correctly). So having that in mind and knowing that they at least got Tsukasa's actor appear in the flashback, would it really hurt them to make a modern day cameo of him? I don't mean something story breaking, but as a small easter egg. Just a thought really.
On Boys over Flowers Season 2 Apr 28, 2018
It's fun, but so far miles away from the first two Hana Yori Dango seasons. I like Oto, her actress seems to be doing good job in portraying the character. Unfortunately male lead is very unattractive, pathetic and useless wimp. I can't imagine him being of any interest to Oto ever. I also dislike arranged marriage idea, it's just a very forced way to make "love triangle". Other four members of C5 will also need some serious character development to be of any importance.

I would love to see Tsukushi's and Tsukasa's cameos at present times. Domyouji Group was mentioned, but so far no news about our beloved couple and how are they doing after 10 years. That would a pretty nice gesture for long time fans epsecially seeing that they got Tsukasa to appear in the flashback. Then why not use actor for a cameo at present times?

Does anyone know how many episodes the series will have?
On SICK'S - Jo no Shou Apr 21, 2018
So what is this? 2 minute short episodes releasing every day of April? How are they going to tell a story, that is "final chapter", in such a short time? I am extremely disappointed if that's true. And trailer looked pretty good and got me excited... oh well...

Eveven if there is not much romance in it it's still very interesting
Not much romance? Well you got me interested. I hope it is not another drama with an interesting premise but with bad writing and lots of romance stuffed within.
On Candle in the Tomb Feb 24, 2017
Is this worth watching? Is the story any good (or is this episodic)? Or is it nonsensical and stuffed with boring romance?

That's why i try to find something that could be worth to watch. I am not that hard to please, it's just there are not only asian dramas that i want to watch in my free time. That's why list is so short. Sure i am not a woman, so maybe all this romance which is extremely common element in dramas is a bit off-putting, but i wouldn't mind that if the story and characters would be good. And i am very new to korean dramas. The first one that i finished was Liar Game, but i can't find something similar to it (like more gritty, edgy with less romance). If you know some really good korean dramas, which you could recommend to most people, please do let me know, genre is not that important.

W is just a boring modern romantic cliche fairy tale. It has an interesting premise, but every other aspect of the show is so shallow and the storyline is dragged out, that the series just fails to break out of its own template. And honestly, it doesn't need to. Producers don't need to make a coherent and well paced story with a good plot and well developed characters. They only need lots of "happy romance", drama, tears and a hot male lead (acting is not a requirement). Everyone is bored of that? No, not at all. Just add a bit of supernatural intrigue to the plot, and you have yourself a new "fresh" drama hit.

Some epic tracks in the soundtrack though (except for the songs) and some really cool visuals. But the series itself (how much of it i watched) was a waste of my time.

Title Keizoku
After two episodes and short look into the others i had to drop it. I don't consider that problem lies in this…
I think SPEC is entirely different and mostly stand-alone show. So what if it has one recurring character and is supposedly a sequel. The story is different, main characters are different, i mean - everything is different here. From what i saw SPEC is nothing like its predecessor. Sure maybe there are some interesting things that i missed and could've appreciate even more if i had watched original Keizoku (if i could bear with how boring it was) first, but i am sure that you can (and you should) safely watch SPEC without watching the prequel, it introduced everything i needed to know and i never felt confused. And the break between shows is more than ten years, i am sure that producers intended for SPEC to be mostly stand-alone.
I'll wait for your opinion on this matter (if you need to watch original first or not) once you start watching SPEC :).

I am not impressed. The show is very episodic, and the main story is very poor and boring. I don't even want to start about cliches, like cute girl Kaoru being in the need of saving by Kouga almost every episode. And Kouga is a boring and dull character, at least Rei brings something interesting to the show once he appears.
Though i was still impressed by visuals, it does look weird, but the use of CGI is kind of creative for an older series.
Still the show feels like it is trying to be something that it can't be. What's with that nudity in couple of episodes but no gore in the fights, if you go that way you go all the way,
On Prison School Nov 3, 2015
There is just no reason to actually watch this when we have anime which is just an overall better adaptation if you prefer this kind of humor. Boys are decent with an ok acting, student council though is poorly casted, ecchi, violence scenes are very silly and not over the top as in anime. As i was skipping through this it reminded me of Minna! ESPer Dayo!, while i dropped it after a few episodes, it still was funnier entry in this kind of comedy than Prison School.

After 3rd episode you just can't say that this series is better than the original story (even movies to some extent were much much better than this drama). Light's pathetic behaviour in the beginning, also terribly done confrontation with FBI agent. These moments just sealed the deal for me. This is going to be a massive trainwreck i suppose.

What is even the point of taking interesting material and then doing some nonsensical "original" spin-off???. Mirai Nikki spin-off drama was atrocious, now the same is happening with Death Note. And there is already Akagi series airing and AnoHana live action TV adaption already on the way, which i can't imagine both could be of any worth... (At least koreans didn't mess up Liar Game adaptation completely).

As soracantabile mentioned, DN's ratings are droping down really fast, and this doesn't come as a surprise. If you can't do a good job adapting material, at least don't ruin it with some stupid "original" story, that some geniuses TV writers carelessely put together.

"Better than manga and anime"; "Acting is superb"? Are you serious people?... This looked…
Yes, my friend, Erika Toda is supreme, and i do judge everyone having her amazing skill in my mind :).

Jokes aside, i didn't say that it was done better in the movies, o that Erika Toda nailed her part better than Misa here.... And what's the point in bringing her out in this topic? Sure i like her, so does that mean that she is someone that i think her acting is the best? I don't think so. I don't watch dramas for acting.
I do think that drama is badly acted, mainly L and Light just don't convince me here. But i don't bring any comparisons here. I am just wondering the thought that somoene said earlier about "superb acting in this drama". That is all. There were only two episodes out, so it is too early to judge something.
