Started Fairly Strong - Gradually Losing Steam
The first few episodes seemed promising. Interesting plot idea, somewhat out of the ordinary for BL. Good cinematography, good lighting, Some believable affection (episode 5/6). I initially rated it 8. Um Apasiri and
Ya Janya are spot on. Joss Way-ar, Fluke Gawin, Neo Trai also perform well.
But over time, the pacing gets progressively slower. The conflict between the vampires that motivates the plot, loses its steam and by episode 7, the series begins to feel like a cliche thriller. There is no gradual revelation of what the conflict is, and I'm afraid we'll never get one. The writers can't decide whether that conflict is important or just a way to run out the clock. There is little action and whatever insights the characters gain are very basic. The intimacy that develops between the leads (Mark and Tong) seems inconsistent. We get mostly bromance, a few BL tropes, and an occasional realistic portrayal of intimacy. Who is the audience for this sort of writing? In an effort to make it more interesting, we started watching at 1.25x speed. Eventually we just amused ourselves in our smart phones while keeping an eye on the video in case something actually happened. It is so frustrating, I can only watch one episode a day. I don't know if I can make it through the whole series now.
