Yeah, Hae Jo seems unforgivable throughout most of this series, but you have to watch it in it's entirety to get what they were trying to do (and did). Is there any role Woo Do Hwan can't pull off? Knockout performances from the entire cast, loved how sometimes it felt like it could have been a historical drama due to the locations and wardrobe. There's a lot to this show, the pace was fine, don't understand what some of the quitters were griping about except for maybe a lull in episodes 9 and 10, which was understandable as it was setting up the finale. Honestly, it's a weepy ending. My wife read spoilers so, stopped at 8 but I finished it and loved it. Not going to admit to π but let's just say if you don't say you π at the end, you're telling porky pies (lies). π€ͺ
Been waiting to see this for a while now, managed to see it on the plain going over to Florida. It didn't disappoint, especially MDS and yes KMY was good as the "baddy" but come on, Park Ji-hwan stole all his scenes lol. The one thing I love about most kmovies is they know how to inject humour where its needed. Sometimes audiences take these movies too seriously when in fact, they're very tongue-in-cheek when it comes to the execution of the storytelling (without taking away some of the more serious graphic sides of the plot too). If that makes sense? Anyway, as per usual, Ma Dong Seok again is awesome to watch. Worth seeing. βοΈβοΈβοΈ
I don't understand that much Korean but I know these subs aren't good. Not having a good sub day so far, I've just stopped watching Tokyo Revengers 2 for the same reason!! Oh well I'll circle back to this one in due course when it's better translated.
Knew zilch about this one going in. I wasn't disappointed one bit, it was not what I was expecting! π€― #EthanJuan was fire in this role up to the end! Adding more Taiwan films to my blind pick days for sure. Film of the week for me, good choice. π― Worth a look-see. ββββ¨
Yeah as sad as it is, his peak is long gone. But I appreciate his dedication to the craft and how he's still working…
Oh for sure, I'd never want to see him quit. Your π― right about him being dedicated to his craft, always has been. I'd just sooner see him something more worthy than some of this Hollywood garbage. That said, I hear there maybe another Rush Hour? I think they did everything needed in that franchise but, the comedy between him and Tucker might be worth another movie? π€
Not sure I've ever watched a midquel before lol? I love the concept, an extension to 2018s Believer β weird but, I think it worked better than it seems to have been given credit for.
There's a vast amount of films I'd love to see given this treatment but, at the same time - not.
Think I liked Ryoo Joon Yeol way more as Rak although by the end I thought Oh Seung Hoon did a really good job picking up this character, he just looked strange at the beginning of the movie. Once again I could find no fault with Jo Jin Woong despite nothing new was really added to his character but, in a surprising way I was a little shocked that Cha Seung Won was kinda brought to the forefront as more of devious and well planned kingpin of sorts. I thought maybe.. this could lead to a third installment and be a proper sequel but, seeing how it unfolded, not sure that would work now. I get why a lot weren't happy with this but, it was no more or no less than it could have been imo. It couldn't really explore the characters any more because, you already liked or disliked them from the first movie and by "liked or disliked", I mean ALL the actors involved did their job exactly to the letter in the first movie, they couldn't improve upon that so, there was very little else to do except pad an already great movie with extended action sequences, bullets, carnage etc. I liked it a lot, no not as much as the original movie but, enough to say "go see it, it's worth a look-see". I liked the credits too, the way the actors walked (in character) front and centre of the screen, how they ended up in the movie and sat facing the camera. I was shocked to see the In Memoriam to Kim Joo Hyeok β RIP. I didn't know he passed? He was so good in the first movie. Anyway, this was a good movie, yes it has issues but overall good. Maybe don't even think of it as a sequel or midquel but, rather an extended version of the first film?
This was far better than I expected, I only watched this because I noticed Believer 2 is out so, naturally with that peaking my interest I had to watch the first one. First of all let's just get Jo Jin Woong out the way, he was great. I've been watching his back catalogue for a while and I honestly don't know how I missed this one? GREAT performance. Now.. Ryoo Joon Yeol π€― kinda, nearly, almost pulled a Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects performance and that was really good to see unfold! I thought everyone did a great job, totally wasn't expecting some of what I saw (in a kmovie) but, it wasn't done in poor taste like a lot of HW movies, it was necessary to the plot and added depth to the characters. No it wasn't all-out non stop action like the trailer made it look but, if it was you wouldn't have cared as much about the characters so the pace was bang on and by the end credits without knowing what happened in that cabin, I loved it. Recommended for adults who like suspense AND action with solid character acting, great cinematography and twists. I might just have to watch it again at some point.
do you mean 10-15 years ago (when there were such awesome historical dramas as three kingdoms or empress ki) or…
Tbh I couldn't quite put my finger on why I couldn't push through, it's not very often I'll drop something. I like the performances, actors and costumes. I think it may of been down to direction and writing in the end. Don't think I had the patience to see if the main character's naivety would be replaced with what looked like a much stronger one in the trailer or poster. Maybe some of it was just lost in bad translation, the subs can also ruin a good series too. If I was wrong to drop it, let me know.
Really enjoyable. Nothing at all to dislike about this movie, Jo Jin Woong has for the second movie in a row gone up again in my estimation and appreciation. As I'm watching more movies than series the past few weeks, I'm seeing that a lot of the actors I'm usually faced with in kdramas (whilst still playing similar roles here and there) just seem to have a whole lot more depth and versatility than I gave them credit for. This is worth a look-see.
Perfect. I loved this and can't understand how it only scores 7.7 on here? I think this was just over it's targeted audience head because, this film, it's characters and the direction had depth and heart to it. There wasn't a dull moment imo, this was a bromance that tugged at the heart. Made for a slightly older audience I guess? This is easily my favourite Jo Jin Woong performance yet, him and Seol Kyeong Gu worked really well together and I loved the ending... the scene in the car (is he, isn't he? π) was really good with Jin Seon Kyu lmao. Then a nice sendoff. π It didn't drag on like some films and dramas, it ended when it needed to end. I'm scoring this slightly high because, it deserves it due to that disrespectful 7.7 score so far. Great film, worth a look-see.
I don't what it was with this series but, after watching 2 episodes I had to just check out some snippets of a few of the last few episodes? This isn't something I'd usually do but, considering this was a 2020 series, it just felt like it was made 10 to 15 years back and just seemed dated in a weird way. I could've pushed through and wanted too due to its pretty decent score and reviews but, somehow couldn't get past the production despite liking the cast.
An all round sweet movie, would recommend. Characters were likeable and the story was a hodgepodge of weird ideas about love in the real world that transcends to the afterlife. It's like a Harry Potter love story in funny sort of way. You really liked Masakazu and especially his young wife Akiko who stole the show. It wasn't all sweetness mind, between the kookiness of this strang place where spirits live alongside humans, it has a sprinkle of darkness to it that makes you wonder where this story is going. I liked it a lot, its very unique and imaginative.
I've been watching Jackie Chan movies since the 70's... I miss the spirit of those old movies. I like some of his international stuff but, this wasn't one of them. It was paint by numbers with explosions here and there to fill the empty script. This movie needed way more than John Cena, it was basically a b-movie from the 80's. Yeah it had a few funny moments and I wouldn't go as far as to say it was terrible, it's definitely watchable but, not his best by miles, don't open the popcorn because there is zero suspense or omg thrills.
This started off well but, for lack of a better word for the writing, died towards the end. It's a shame because I loved the concept, really like the entire cast but, through poor writing, lack of chemistry between the 2 central characters and not knowing how to end the story it dropped from what would have been an 8 to at most a 6.5 to 7. Such a shame.
Okay for me this was not quite as good as Kingdom 1. I was disappointed Shin's character hadn't really progressed in discipline or skill? It just felt like this was the following day or week. Still, it was fun in places and some good action here and there so, it is worth a look-see plus, it ended with ((((((SPOILER)))))) Shin setting off to be trained by General Ouki who is one of the best characters onscreen despite how little he actually contributes in terms of action and dialogue so, I'm really hopeful he has a bigger role in Kingdom 3? Overall I did like this, I was just hoping Shin would've been a bit more refined as a character and leader. I don't think this sequel showed him learning as much as it could have or displayed what a leader he might be (if that's where it's heading). It's also weird like one of the comments below, how it's this story of the Qin Dynasty played by and spoken in Japanese but, at the same time I knew that going in because, I chose to watch this purely because I enjoyed seeing Yamasaki Kento in Alice In Borderlands and wondered what this was like. Like I said, it's worth a look-see, I've got much higher expectations for Kingdom 3 though.
I was disappointed with this. I thought this would be way better than it panned out to be because, of it's great casting but, I feel the writing and lack of visual effects let it down. I didn't really care or believe there was anything of a love story, I was more invested in the relationship between his brother and the vet played by Hwang Hee. There was nothing wrong with Lee Dong Wook, Kim Bum and Kim Yong Ji however, there was very little chemistry from Jo Bo Ah. Each episode felt long with very little happening except a lot of dialogue? I liked the characters but, was that just because I liked most of the cast? That said, I will probably watch TotNT:1938 β I just hope it picks up the pace AND maybe explains why Yeon actually /doesn't/ seem to be human at the end?
