Interesting how people can have different opinions.I've seen hundreds of cdramas and think that Pursuit of Jade…
Dear spying bully,
I'm somewhat familiar with you watchdogs of My Drama List because I have been here years ago. Probs before you. I'm very ancient.
And I have seen comments like yours before - so please thanks for the official toxic reminder BUT people do NOT HAVE to be on My Drama LIST for years, days or even seconds to express a VALID opinion. Not everyone is a Robot (are you a robot?)
ALSO I'm on the POJ page aren't I?
AND I'm saying positive things about POJ because this is the place to do it.
If Huangyang Tian Tian (18) was an attractive male actor, idol, or from a boy musical group, would she be so criticised?…
HTT isn't being treated like anything and gender plays no part in this, There are her management problems and then there is her role in this, which is totally miscast.
I understand that they wanted a young actress. However, it's an uncomfortable watch for many knowing that she is a teen - 16/17 when the drama was filmed - as the romance between her and older actors is heavily implied. Only Li gets away with being a suitable 'suitor' for her because he's kind of child like. But she is clearly meant for Yunrui's Zhuge Yue and that's kinda of a gross given that many other inappropriate plots have been removed from the drama.
AND HTT is not great in this role. Her youth brings nothing extra to the character - her acting infact revolves around being more restrained, battle hardened and mature than a teen, due to her life experiences. But this could have easily been accomplished - better - by numerous older actresses.
So, who do you suggest? ZLY? She didn't want to comeback and play Chu Qiao anymore. 😑😑😑
Anyone else would do - she doesn't bring in anything special by being 16.17 at the time of filming, It's an uncomfortable watch having Yunrui and Kangle fawning over her given they are full grown adults.
AND she doesn't really bring anything extra to the character and the story by being so young (yes i know the book character is a kid too, but it's also called acting). SO yeah there are many older actresses that could play the role.
to me poj is not a 9.1 drama and similarly this is also not a 7.7 drama.correct rating for poj should be like…
Why drag another drama into this? POJ has a 9.1 rating because ALOT of people disagree with you. Me included.
And while I'm sort of really enjoying this and agree that it perhaps doesn't deserve such a low rating, the whole idea of a romance between the leads is so gross due to HTT's age (at the time of filming in particular). It's the main thing putting me off the whole drama because it's really leading up to that; it's the driving force of the story - chaste or not.
He's been just great in everything - from supporting to lead roles, from silly to wise, from nerd to sexy. I mean Snow Moon was crazy good, but then there was Fei...A Qi..
I watched this for Zuo Ye. But then, I've only ever seen Chen Zhe Yuan before in HIdden Love for like five minutes (it's not for me) and had no idea he was great.
He has bags of charisma (the filters in this were a bit crazy though), and is so confident at being a leader thing type. Did i say he has a bags of charisma? I think I'm now a fan.
Anyway, Fated Hearts was great, even when the focus shifted to his hapless sister and her crazy new boyfriend, They were great. Li Qi was a cool fighter in this role as well, one of the best,
And Zuo Ye? Give this man things to do - he's been silly, wise, forsaken and broken - and very schmexy as well. More lead roles please.
Love the characters and actors in this drama so much, their pettiness, their confusion, their savvy planning, their loyalty and humour, and really enjoyed travelling with them through the series. A really enjoyable watch.
whenever i see the casual clothes price that ZHL wearing just go speechless it's so expensive, honestly if anyone…
They are really not 'casual clothes' . It's endorsements and yeh, even if you see him in sweats as long as he is in public he'd be wearing something promotional. It's always business.
And when he is really being casual - you are unlikely to see him - so he may be wearing his moms's knitted cardigan (which he wears in public) over a ten year old tee shirt. But unlikely, because if I had his money I would also shop on brand.
Now I have to stop believing in these ratings. I seriously don't understand why this should get anything above…
Interesting how people can have different opinions.
I've seen hundreds of cdramas and think that Pursuit of Jade was truly one of the best and deserved of this rating. And it's not all about Zhang Linghe - although I agree with you, he looks great.
*Tian Xi Wei was brilliant in this. She's a great actress anyway, but she was cute, smart, capable and powerful and believable as a warrior despite her stature. Most Chinese actresses being cute are fricking annoying,
*There was something lovely and truthful about all of the female characters in this. Watch enough Chinese dramas and you know that's not the case. The princess, Qian Qian, the aunties were generally supportive and/or redeemable, and savvy and humourous even.
*Ditto for quite a few of the males in this.
*Ditto for giving the villains a back story that was sufficiently familar to make their motivations understandable.
*Ditto for softening up the ML from the book: there's enough obsessive dudes out there.
*Drama design - costumes, set styling and everything else - had a fairly tale outlook and while unrealistic, it was also magical and atmospheric.
*Yes there are hundreds of dramas with a similar plot - and this one wasn't even heavy on intricate politicking - but like Prisoner of Beauty, it was character driven. If you are not interested in the characters - and the actors playing them - then may be look elsewhere. (I do think the plot was interesting however, albeit being very simple and linear: there was a mystery at the beginning and the whole plot was just about resolving that mystery and solidfiying the central relationship.
In short, while there may be hundreds of similar plot dramas out there, this one was executed really really well. And the fact is that more than some audiences found it great!
Also unlike you, I started this out without caring about the ratings at all, but on comparison to lower rated dramas I think the high rating is fair.

So what is YOUR problem?
I damn loved it. Maybe stop bullying people.
