Tasteful to the end.
Nice light hearted comedy. I liked this period drama very much The producer didn't overstretch the story with too many episodes. Sometimes drama are stretched thin with too many subplots added and same comedy are repeated over and over again and the whole things becomes distasteful near the ending and you would skip some portions to finish in order not to fall asleep. This drama still tasty right to the end. Perhaps even hoping for a second series. And I hoping for a second series without a change of casts. Was this review helpful to you?

Poor cast. Poor storyline
Poor casting. Female leads the fox spirits looks older than the male lead the empower. Instead of having charms and charisma, even sex appeal, she acted childish and spoiled most of the time. Can see some sign of facial wrinkles when she laughs or smile, poor camera or lighting. And yet the Empower Dowager looks too young. The side plots against the empower are always short cut with little explanations. The dialogue are predictable and sound repeated most of the time. More like a AI generated story where you put in the variables and storyline and the computer comes up with the end product. Almost like a children storyline with some kissing and bedroom screen. Looks like the producers and directors are confused on how they conveyWas this review helpful to you?

Recycled storyline Poor casting
1. I don't follow any artiste. Lead actress looks way too old and lead actor way too young. Despite the strong lighting and make up Together they still look like a young mother and son. Especially close up. Don't ever cheat your audience.2. There are many mini plots within Drama which is very good. However not all are nicely done. E.g the plot in which the lead actress was kidnapped by an old women and her tranvestite son, the plot was finished abruptly and over simplified.
3. OK the lead actor is good looking which is a good thing but he does have an accents and looks dumb and expressionless most of the time. When you combined him with an exoerienced aunty it really sucks. The actress is obviously good but predictable expression meaning limited maybe because of Botox. Luckily she didn't try to act cute.
4. My biggest frustration with drama be it any language is At the most urgent and drastic moment the actors or actresses stand there stood still and speak their lines of exchanged dialogue before they move. I don't think in real life anyone would act that way.
A drama is like a pot of soup with the correct combination of ingredients. The soup itself is the whole narrative. If you add too much salt or spice, or add an overdue ingredient or an undersize prawn your favorite soup can be disastrous.
That's my 3 cents worth. You don't like my opinion So be it I thought this would be a very good drama after reading reviews. Its still good to watch and I am slightly disappointed overall. I do hope there's improvement in the future for Chinese drama

No title
Predictable plot. Similar twists is repeatedly used. In the middle of assassin attack or dangers main casts can waste precious seconds to look at each other with love and talk stupid. Happens too many times spoiler. Like you're in the middle of a good dream and you're abruptly interrupted for a few seconds and then force to continue the dream which by this while isn't so good anymore.Main actress is way too old for the role like a decade too old. Her puffy eyes betray her age. She is poor in comical moments. She isnt pretty. Casting numerous prettier and younger looking supporting and guest role actresses doesn't help her. Like making her age more obvious. Main actor role all too familiar and repeatedly used in too many period drama. High fighting skill, make little mistake, can predict all enemy's move like always and has bad childhood. Phui!!!

Worst part is they put a 30plus actress with the look of someone closer to 40 and made her act cute and try to make her to young and cute unsuccessfully. Even with all the made-up and eyelasjes, lighting, filters, she still look way too old for her part. Its almost neaseating to see her trying to play cute. She has very dull eye expression, more suited to play someone with hard life or serious attitude. I could name half a dozen Chinese actresses off hand more suited. I like the story which is why I finished the series despite having some revolting impulse. Don't believe me, watch and examine it yourself. Was this review helpful to you?
