Zuo Yi did this exact same story with Chen Gang as the ML, and the chemistry in that one (long gone from youtube} was absolute FIRE, perhaps because they were purportedly a couple IRL at that time. Wish I could find that version again... In this rendition, Zuo Yi is wonderful but the handsome ML and her do not have much chemistry. I realize he is supposed to be an emotionally absent tsundere, but he actually just comes off as robotic. There are several scenes where the FL is being abused where the ML just stands around watching silently, and his references to their once active sex life fall very flat compared to Chen Gang's. I watched it hoping for something resembling the really believable and entertaining Zuo Yi/Chen Gang version of this story, but, alas!, this was disappointing.

You and I are in complete agreement on the ML 's behavior. Every time Maggie is around him and the FL, acting like a possessive twit, he just sits there limply watching he FL get dissed. Not ONCE does he defend the FL or take her side, he just sort of lets it all happen. I could personally not forgive either a friend or a lover for not coming to my aid in a situation like this. What happened in episode 28 when they went to Maggie's house because she had told him a lie regarding some sort of cockamamie emergency, and she just played "this man is MINE!" in front of the FL while he just sat there like a lump on a log - aaargh! Episode 28 is also where I dropped this show, after reading about the oncoming breakup and watching the 3 second umbrella sharing lame ending. So dissapointing. The writing was good for a while, but they never once made it clear that the ML's passivity towards Maggie (and his father) was the disaster waiting to happen.
