This was also my interpretation about them as a couple. He falls in love with her at the first sight, but about his circumstances he cannot express his feelings for her better than he does. He was apart from his mother when he was ten year old! And so he was this lonely hurt guy. Na bi is a similar type of person, she does not know how to express her feelings for Jae eon and both talk to less together about their feelings and their past.
