On Okada Masaki Mar 25, 2019
Person Okada Masaki
I first saw him in Hana Kimi back in 2007as the super cute, blonde Sekime. He played a small role but made a big impact on me. I stopped watching Jdramas after that. Thankfully, I recently started getting into jdramas/movies again (2019) and heard about the movie I Give My First Love to You and looked it up. I looked into the main characters and when I saw his pictures I thought he was super cute - he seemed a little familiar but I didn't think much of it. (I didn't know he was Sekime at this time) I was oddly drawn to him. Then I read his bio and saw he was in Hana Kimi as Sekime and yall my jaw dropped!! Never thought I would see him again. Haha. Anyways, I can't wait to watch him on screen again and have him make my heart flutter like the first time I saw him. ❤

Super cute drama! Wish there was a little more romance but the cuteness between the leads was just enough to let it pass. Okada's hot in that kendo outfit. Can't get enough of it.

Great comedic timing. I love the allusions to dramas, mimicry of its own characters and just basically poking…

I'm reading these comments and I'm wondering if we even watched the same film. I'm a fan of Ikuta Toma and after reading reviews before watching it I was expecting something completely different. As I was watching it I found myself wondering if it was going to get better. It didn't catch my attention, sadly. Also, I'm wondering what part made you cry? Because I didn't shed one tear. Maybe a couple tears in the second part but not to the point where I needed tissues or anything. I'm honestly curious. Overall it was okay only. It wasn't the best I've seen but it wasn't the worse either. Their love story was a little touching, but it just wasn't enough to keep me interested. I'm thinking maybe if I read the manga before watching the film it would have changed my view. Also, if anyone can help clear up some confusion that would be great. At the end of the second part, what was written in her notebook? From the way it was filmed and how Moto reacted to it, they made it seem like it was a significant part of the film, but maybe I'm missing something because I don't see how/why that changed his mind to come back to Nana.

Tbh I think I appreciate this because I watched it during my elementary days so I didn't mind stupid characters…
Lol. So true. I watched it when I was waaay younger probably in my elementary days as well so I tolerated her character much more than now. XD

I just finished watching this for the first time and let me tell you: I loved it!! I miss the characters so much already. Don't know why I didn't watch this when it first aired but I'm glad I gave it a shot. I watched It Started with a Kiss (Taiwanese ver) yeeeaaars ago when it first came out and never cared for any of the other adaptations cause I thought they wouldn't be able to compete with that version but, BOY WAS I WRONG! This version proved that remakes can be just as good as the original. While watching it I found myself feeling frustrated with Naoki Irie. He lacked emotions and I wish he would just show Kotoko that he loves her (of course he does because I mean he married her), but the more I watched it the more I saw that he actually really cared for Kotoko. He just has his own way of showing his love for her. Like when he had to move for work without discussing it with Kotoko first and she got hurt but he made that decision AFTER thinking it through. I think that's why I loved his character so much after finishing this series. He may not express himself every time, but, when he does, it is so heartfelt, sincere, and gentle that I actually cried hearing him tell her how much he appreciates and loves her. I think my favorite scene/episode was when he went to Kotoko's hometown to visit her mothers grave and we find out where Kotoko got her personality from. XD No, but really, that whole episode was so heartwarming. That's what a spouse is supposed to do. Be there for their spouse in times of trouble and accept their spouses family (even when they can be kind of eccentric). Idk but it's just something about Naoki being there with her family, listening to Kotoko's dad talk about his late wife, seeing him laugh (yes, laugh!) at pictures from Kotoko's mothers past, and having him still accept her even with all of her flaws just makes my heart soo warm. ❤
Also, Yuki and Konomi's little love story was so cute! He's like a little Naoki and Konomi's a little Kotoko. LOVED this drama. And I'm gonna miss them so much. I already do.

I totally ship Uehara and Nao although I really liked Daichi from S1 too. But I see why Uehara and Nao totally…
The first time it happened he was half-asleep. And I mean Uehara did that to Nao once before too... Now, the second time, that was on purpose and he knew exactly what he was doing and I truly think he let his emotions get the best of him. But I think we've all been there before. We let our emotions control us and sometimes we do or say things in the heat of the moment only to realize how wrong it was after it's all said and done. Natsume was a player and never really cared about the girls he was with until he met Nao. She was the first girl he had real, genuine feelings for.

I loved this series!! Finished it in 3 days and I usually never finish dramas in that short amount of time. I don't get the hate towards Uehara though. I feel like most of the time he's just misunderstood. He has a difficult time expressing himself and that's why Nao's so insecure in the relationship. Sure, he has some flaws but it's human nature. Everybody has flaws. Natsume was a cutie though. Not gonna lie he caught my heart when I watched this, but I can't deny the fact that Uehara and Nao were made for each other. It was such a cute series and I'm so glad I gave it a chance!

Great movie! Tragic storyline and I'm shocked why so many people don't understand Seol Rang's actions. The fighting scene at the end was beautifully shot. Tragic yet beautiful. The only complaint I had was that I wish they went into more details with each character. I was hoping to see more scenes between Junho (Yool) and Kim Go Eun (Seolhee). What happened between them in the end? I guess it's up to my imagination..

I just finished this drama! I'm so glad I finished it. It brought tears to my eyes.. I mean I really cried, for the characters, for their youth, their friendship, and their partings. I heard there's a season 2!? I hope so! I mean the ending was good but we need a little more! I hope it really happens. :)

One last thing. I won't be able to see hotel room numbers 2006 and 2009 the same anymore. One of these days I might request one of those rooms though xD Lol.

Is jang hyuk a bad boy in this drama?
The opposite! He takes responsibility for his actions. He tries to paint himself as a bad guy but he really isn't.

Just gonna add that I was confused about Gun's hereditary disease. I know he was afraid of it affecting him at some point of his life but that at the end the doctor said that he was fine now and wouldn't have to worry since it hadn't affected him yet and probably won't anymore, but wouldn't that mean that he potentially passed it on to his son even though he wasn't affected by it. Cause wouldn't he still have that defective gene?? Or am I just thinking about it too much? Lol. I guess I just needed some clarification on that.

I actually really enjoyed this drama! It had a lot of cheesy and cliché stuff that usually kdramas use but it was really good. This was my first time watching Jang Hyuk perform in a drama and I wasn't dissappointed. I'm definitely a new fan now. With that said I cried, laughed, fell in love with the characters, and then cried and laughed some more. I honestly didn't know what to expect and the storyline was unpredictable and just when I thought it was gonna end they threw a curveball at me again. Good drama! Great acting and great OST! Gun and Mi Yeong forever! ❤ xD Love the "superglue" and "post-it note" analogy. I can relate.

I just wanted to say that I love this version. I love the little changes that they did in comparison to the other versions. For example, Mei Zuo actually has a love interest (?) I think. Lol. They haven't really mentioned the girl after their date but I'm hoping they bring her back.

I usually like anything where people are backstabbing each other. Greed, corruption and anything that makes it…
If you like suspense you should check out Signal and Tunnel. They arr both great kdramas and has minimal romance. The leads are lovable as well so you won't get annoyed easily.
