Painful slow pace
The start was so awesome, but as the story progresses, it just becomes more and more painful to watch. As I am finally dropping it at episode 11, I really can't comment on whether it will turn around with a meaningful context. As of now, it just feels like things are happening as they are meant to be—no one, absolutely no character, is putting in any effort to make the story progress as it should.
I felt like Bai Lu is one of the prettiest actresses with a strong inherent personality to portray a powerful FL. But sigh… here, it looks like she is not putting any effort into her role. I mean… what the hell is she thinking during literally any of her decision-making moments? Is she even serious about her role in saving the world? Or is she just giving up on her mission now and then? It looks like she will keep on enjoying her human life, and everything will just conveniently go in her favor! I mean, why the hell does she need to teach anything to that future-demon knowing that he is way too dangerous to take any risk? And why is she always confused about her decisions? Up to episode 11, Tantai Jin is just doing whatever he needs to. He is almost living the same life before and after Susu's personality change. Sometimes, he acts smart, and sometimes he needs the devil to guide his way. I am not sure if his personality is supposed to be that of a fool or a really smart person.
I mean, when you have the power to control any small animal, insect, or bird, then why not just f***ing kill all your opponents at once when you could? Like how he killed that eunuch with the help of a bee—why didn't he use the same trick on the powerful kings conspiring against him, including his brother and father? That trick was so simple yet lethal, and he could have easily used it to his advantage.
So far, whatever is happening in the story feels abstract and not serious. So, I’m finally dropping this drama, even though I was initially very interested in the devil-fairy kind of duet and expected that the Luo Yunxi–Bai Lu pairing would make for a great story. But sigh…!!!
