I see your point. I think once TJ and Xiao Yao get rid of all the people that try to hurt them or hurt them while trying to protect them, they can live happily ever after together. Nevertheless, as it is portrayed in the drama it doesn't strike me as a very passionate kind of love. It could be a little maternal like you said or just a longing for a quiet love alongside a good man. I think in real life we do have to make those kind of choices too. Some of us might be attracted to more dangerous men but we might end up preferring a safer type of person to make a commitment with. Others could find this choice dull. The option you suggest, that is forgetting about all four guys and starting afresh (with or without the perspective of a handsome farmer), sounds good and empowering to me but I'm not Xiao Yao so I can't really answer your question as I don't know if that would make her happy.

I think TJ never meant to hurt anyone, he just couldn't prove he wasn't the kid's father and felt he had to do the right thing that is to marry the child's mother although it really hurt him. At this point Xiao Yao really loves TJ and once she realizes he is just a victim like she once was , he is really worth fighting for. She could like you said just move on with a different crowd and keep doing what she likes, which is healing people but she might never be happy. On the one hand Can Xuan would probably never let go of her and on the other hand she is already too deeply in love with TJ and realizing that she missed an opportunity to be with him just because she didn't trust him or any other men enough to find out he was just a victim of a plot would ruin the rest of her life. Actually, the man she trusts the most and whose presence feels like a safe haven to her is the one who betrays the most for selfish reasons: Can Xuan.

I'm not sure about his status but I noticed that when he says: "stand up" only Xiao Yao stands up, everybody else remains prostrated. So I might be wrong but I think he's just using his authority as an elder to convince Can Xuan to let go and get him out of his stupor. He does seem to have a lot of influence on Can Xuan.

Fenlong is not a bad guy but he really didn't have any romantic feelings towards Xiao Yao. Marrying her just seemed to him like the right thing to do politically speaking. His is loyal but also ambitious, which Xiao Yao is not.

Cang Xuan is just obsessed with the idea of having her to himself. Not caring if your beloved is happy or not as long as you can have her is not love. And Xiao Yao has never seen him as anything else but her gege. He also hurt her more than once, which in my opinion is hardly a proof of love.

I can understand why many people want Xiao Yao to end up with Xiang Liu. There is a lot of sensual tension and chemistry between them at times and had he or rather Fanfeng Bei admitted his feelings earlier there might have been a chance for them. Nevertheless, although he cares for her he has hurt her a lot. He is still better than Can Xuan because he respects her choices. You can tell his love is true as he also sacrifices a lot for her sake but she has also done a lot for him .

Finally Tushan Jing, He is the purest, the one who has never intended any harm towards her. As a matter of fact is is just a good person in general and he is forgiving. He can be perceived as weak because of that. Xiao Yao toyed around with him at the beginning but he was always thankful to her for saving his life and respectful of her feelings and decisions. Although he symbolizes a much quieter type of love, he also seems to represent what Xiao Yao has been looking for that is to say somebody who will never betray her or abandon her. I think she admires him for being a good person and aspires to a quiet family life with him, helping people and not caring about a higher status.
