Kariiiiiin

A born actress, albeit she was perfectly cast for the role and didn't really have to act as a completely different person, although that's what you'll take for a movie debut (tbf she had to pretend to be smart- do not ask her to do a times table).

Overall the story is fun and engaging, making you guess things until the very last moment. Even if the "villain" in this case was a bit of a pantomime villain after they've been revealed as one, personally I see that as fine, as well as imagining the discussion's that do take place when deceit and bribery takes place, I mean most politicians sell out to Israel for only a couple $1000, even if this story isn't actually about such a grand scale of things, it is one that alludes to the nature of the greater world outside of school "scoops" and how nefarious things can be.

If you liked this movie, I'd seriously recommend watching "Caster!", a TV drama airing this year which similarly goes over in essence the same topics but over a grander scale of time and levelled up to the "adult world".

Honestly for criticism it's kind of hard to give any, I would like to say that the pantomime-ness is definitely exaggerated but even if it is there's nothing inherently problematic about it, yet honestly I can imagine the politicians acting in the exact same manner of accord every time they take a bribe (funnily enough the big "scoop" that costed the LDP's first defeat in Japanese electoral history post 1955 system, revealed that they were taking bribes the entire time- they also accuse the other side of doing it, classic whataboutism to try and save face, big parallels with the story told here https://archive.ph/wRkkh ), so even this criticism is pretty much clutching at straws, since I do honestly believe these people giggle to themselves (I mean they've sold their souls already they may as well laugh and drop the eloquence act) when they see the suitcases of money they receive after voting on sanctions on a country they voted to invade or weapons licensing contracts or discriminatory laws against immigrants (looking at you Sanseito).

If you're an imaginative person you can probably guess the gist off the plot from my review- although you shouldn't be reading spoiler'd reviews if you are the type, if you aren't then I'd say watch this movie and you probably will thoroughly enjoy it while watching out for some of the parallels that I have mentioned.

The pacing style is one of sequential movement and action, which is exactly what a movie should be- the slow burn build up stuff can stay with the multi-episode multi-seasonal TV shows- while this doesn't sacrifice any of the quality within the scenes nor the layer's of mystery within the story. Seriously watch this.

Also Karin is actually just the goat or what

One of the best sequels to a series ever.

The synopsis itself contains minor spoilers that diminish the viewing experience (not as bad as the ones for Borderless), please go in blind as the same with Borderless if you come to watch this.

The music was basically perfect and created and atmosphere of suspense unseen in anything else apart from from it's own predecessor. The story itself was different enough from Borderless, where Borderless was about love, this story was about *spoiler* (you can figure it out when you watch it). As always with this series everything isn't always as it seems and it returns with a top level of thought provoking situations and dilemmas. That's not to say nothing is straight forward, of course this being a spoiler free review means that you'd need to watch the series for yourself to understand how good a run of 8 episodes it was.

The acting of one character felt a bit off/exaggerated compared to the prior series (it's really easy to figure out who it is if you watch it), but honestly being the sole fault within a series where the music also more than made up for it this time alongside the rest of the cast, the actual story itself and the entire execution.

This all said, just like Borderless this series may as well have been written by a certain character within the series, alongside being an important magnifying glass into "why criminals commit crimes"", "why do people decide to kill?", telling the stories of the perpetrators over just the classic blanket label that I would say 99% of media does, with a lucky 2 minute backstory if they're lucky.

That's all I can really say without delving into actual spoilers (if the synopsis hasn't already given you a spoiler, it spoils more than my review), watch this series, watch borderless first if you haven't already, this really does clear every other media work of fiction in the world for me and I struggle to imagine anything that can come close.

I specifically made an account because the only other review on this show is-

- completely disingenuous to how good a piece of fiction this is.

Do not read the synopsis, going in completely blind is 100x better btw.

No spoilers because spoilers are the worst thing on the planet and completely ruin watching experiences.

This was amazing. I usually am a hater of shows/series (I usually watch 1/a couple of episodes or drop midway the 1st episode) but I finished this so fast and it was just amazing. Everything that happens in this show is thought provoking and meaningful, this isn't something to watch while playing subway surfers let alone those people who watch things in 2x speed. Ironically enough the music score was the weakest part of the show in all honesty (and it wasn't even bad, I just think a 10/10 music score is really hard to achieve) , but that's because of how real and well the show progressed and the actors acted.

If the first episode didn't work for you then maybe the show isn't for you, or maybe good shows aren't for you is the only real takeaway I can give for this show.

There is no "wait for it, it gets better",
There is no "it falls off after a couple episodes" or " it dragged out way too long".

It was amazing.

From start to finish,

Onto the sequel.

ok one minor spoiler at the end don't scroll down if you don't want to see it.

Yes she got groomed/other one groomed her and that's straight up bad (15-16 yo getting groomed by someone in at least their late 20s most likely 30s or 40s).
