10th chapter was full of his thoughts and emotions towards pete and that shows how much he cared about the little things about pete. ( You have to read that chapter, i don't even know how to put that in words)

Vegas chained pete( after he fell in love )was because he loved him deeply so that he find hard to let pete go. But after all that he did let go of pete when the right situation came and he sacrificed his happiness for pete.. and you already told that they did slowly progressed.. so i think its wierd to not finding its cuteness after you read the whole novel
