Yea ik this " based "on the novel so naturally the ending wud be like that only... But when i say adapted it means that the drama shud follow the novel as it is... If they change anything ( like the plot or characters ) then it is no longer an adaptation but an inspiration... These two words " adaptation" " inspiration" are very close yet very far... And nope youku or any channel have no say in the storyline or plot... Many broadcasting companies buy broadcasting rights even after the end of filming or some dramas have multiple broadcasters... So practically it's the screenwriter, director or producer and rarely actors who decide the plot.. ( actors can only make very minor changes)

Aiyaa it's not that youku decides the storyline or ending of any drama... Youku is just a broadcasting company which has the rights to broadcast this show... I guess you are from India (well iam also Indian and by ur name i guessed it) so in india like we have zeetv or sony tv or hotstar youku ,iqiyi etc are like that only... They don't control the script of the drama... So basically they have nothing to do with bad endings of TTEOM and TSL... Also there are three main reasons why i am so optimistic abt this dramas ending 1. The script writer is the person who writes the script for the drama and also it's ending.. scriptwriter of this drama is wang ruo ke , i hv watched all her previous dramas and all have happy endings with all the main couples or the caste enjoying a happy meal by the beach well this is an ancient drama so probably there won't be a beach hehe... 2. Look at yan hui's schedule you see gold coins and baozi on ep 36 which are her wishes ( to be rich and hv unlimited baozi) 3. The feel of this drama is a cool one.. by that i mean there is nothing too heavy in the plot and they even added bai xiaosheng to make it even lighter.... So just enjoy the drama at ease hehe It's gonna be good...
