Stand up comedy is so hard to do. We dont give comedians enough credit. I’m always prepared for cringe for every rom com c drama, k drama, Hollywood whatever. Like let’s be real. Rom coms are silly but sometimes I’ll have a little silly with a glass of wine and a snugly blanket. But pleasantly surprised with Smile Code. It’s sweet, it’s modern, it’s heartwarming and so so funny. I’m a Shen Yue fan, so whatever I say should come with a grain of salt. But no other actress can give me the feels like this girl from China can, not from the US not anywhere. I’m watching from half way around the world totally enamored. Loving this drama so far!

You are enough. People are even making vlogs in the “style of Shen Yue” bec your own vlogs have inspired people to find joy and beauty in their simple daily life. I wanted to send you flowers on MDL, seems like such a sweet n easy thing to do, but some people are questioning your ranking lol. The rankings are meaningless anyway, but the support and love from international fans esp this 🇺🇸 fan hopefully travels across the world to find you and give you encouragement

Btw, as an American I really don’t know why I am so attracted to her face. She is so beautiful. In fact the only reason I started watching Asian dramas on Netflix is bec she caught my eye while browsing shows. I stopped to watch her drama (ALSB) and I’ve never done that, watch something purely bec I thot the actress/actor was attractive

I’m sorry, can’t relate. ? Shen Yue’s and JL’s chemistry in this drama is freaking insane. I’ve never seen a sexier drama bec it looks and feels so natural. Most of the time, even if the plot/production is great the love scenes are meh bec the acting is over done or feels artificial. Like you know they are really putting on a show. Shen Yue’s acting to me is on another level bec she looks/feels real and natural. Her awkwardness, lack of grace is maybe something I appreciate bec not everyone is going to move like a goddess like dilreba. But models and actresses you know every little move they make is for the camera. SY too to an extent. But she’s so down to earth and lacking artifice, that she naturally creates chemistry with her co star. Also, as a 24 year old Asian girl, she will mostly be given pure virginal roles. Later on as she gets older she should be given more mature roles.

Romcoms are usually not my cup of tea, prefer epic historical/political dramas. But I’m actually smiling at the lighthearted fun romance in this drama. Sure everything’s overused and trite but that’s 99% of Romcoms and why I almost never watch them. Went into this knowing it was going to be silly but by episode 5 now waiting impatiently for the next eng sub installment.
