I've liked more or not liked as much dramas in the past compared to the majority which is normal but for the praise to be that high on Reset specifically I really really don't get it. It's even worse now that I've started My Stand-In in the past week that has a vaguely comparable premise. It's just reinforced everything I didn't like in Reset.
With the way Armin was so candid about coming from the future there's no way no one thought he wasn't completely insane. Not even a moment where he thinks to himself "maybe I shouldn't talk about that" which is mind blowing to me since he was a 40 something men when he died so you'd think he would be a little bit more mature. His outburst while understandable got old pretty quickly when it was aimed at characters who would potentially hurt him 20 years later. I understand when he first got there because he probaly thought it was a nightmare but after weeks being there he was still doing it. Even in the last episode he is still talking about the future like it's a normal thing to do.
On the topic of his death I understand that there wouldn't really be a way for him to found the culprit but I still find it weird how little it was talked about outside of a couple mention or flashbacks. And to see the resolution makes it seem even more pointless since he had never met Thiwthit in his previous life and it's just shown in a flashback like an afterthought to kinda implies that history repeats itself. But since it comes out of nowhere it kinda falls flat.
The villains were laughable. It's almost insulting to call them villains considering how stupid they were. Thiwthit in particular was such an annoying character. One note the whole way through. I don't know if it's the direction, the script or simply the actor who is not great but it was painful to watch him in every single one of his scenes. He felt more like a caricature than a real character. Definitely the worst part of the show. Also making him "crazy" at the end feels very lazy to me and kind of a cop out to diminish everything he has done to other people.
I'm glad there was one last scene with the friend and the aunt. Wish we saw a little bit more of them. Janine and Wenai were also pretty good side characters.
This BL started great but I'm glad there's only one episode left because I'm starting to seriously lose interest. This episode felt very filler, I didn't care for any of the romantic scenes (I'm so done with the OST they keep replaying) and I'm already not a big fan of proposals in general but to have it teased makes it even worse. Also I just can't take Thiwthit seriously as a villain his acting is just one note the whole time. It feels more like a toddler throwing a tantrum than someone who actually is threatening.
Just finished watching episode 6 and I might be crazy but in some scenes Tada give me more mafia vibes than some of the actual mafia characters I've seen in other BLs.
I guess I'm the only person who feels like episode 6 was a step down from the previous episodes? They've been…
I agree, to me some of it was a little boring. Too many montage with music. It was a bit of a filler episode which is a shame considering how few episodes there are.
It's an important subject, especially for South Korea, but I'm not sure how I feel about the way it's done. It's lacking nuance because the way people behave around her I don't see how any addict would be willing/wanting to heal themselves with that. Brute force is not the way to go since it has to come from her, she has no one on her side and no one willing to talk to her. Like sure they're all drunk in her family but not one person in her entourage questioned why she randomly broke up why her fiancé? over alcohool of all things? I mean her mom clearly thought they were happy together when she went to his office and I highly doubt her being against alcohool was something new. So if the fiancé had such an issue with it he probably would have gone to the mom. Even her friends are constantly judging her which is so hypocritical coming from Taekwondo dude in particular since he has no issue thirsting over her sister when she's just as much of an alcohoolic.
Also I'm very confused why Ui Jun didn't tell her she said she wanted to quit drinking when she was drunk. If she didn't believe him the day after that was on her but at least it would have made her think.
Why do people think that FL and her ex did NOT break up bc of alcohol, and/or that FL was not to blame for the…
Did it say at any point that she was messy before she found out about the cheating? Sure she drunk a lot of alcohool before, I'm not denying that, but the moment she completely let go is when she found out. In the flashback where she sees him she didn't look messy, she looked pretty put together.
How come she didn't notice ? Because we all know cheaters always advertise to their significant other that they are cheating on them. There are people who live double life for years without anyone noticing. So I doubt blaming her when you say yourself she worked long hours is the way to go.
Also why should he need a reason to be loyal to her ? It's the bare minimum as long as you decide to stay in the relationship. He had no issue staying with her during his affair and he was only willing to break up because he got the other woman pregnant. I honestly don't understand how anyone can justify any of his behaviour, regardless of her alcohoolism. She wasn't keeping him hostage, he is a grown adult with a mouth and a functionning brain so nothing was stopping him from breaking off the engagement sooner. And I honestly disagree the alcohool was the reason for the cheating. He knew when he got with her she was like that and he decided to get engaged anyway. If he had it in him to cheat who's to say he wouldn't do it even if she was sober, but instead of the alcohool he'd blame the long hours at work. Besides it would be very hypocritical of him since he admitted himself the first time with the other woman happened when he was drunk.
To me, him mentioning the alcohool was a way to avoid taking acountability and to put the blame solely on her for the break up. As for her saying she prefers alcohool, it was clearly just a way to save face and gain some power in that situation, to not admit she was cheated on even if it doesn't show her in a positive light (I'm not denying she is an alcohoolic).
As for the venue sure he could use it anyway. But considering she clearly was the one who made reservations for everything AND made the downpayments it still looks extra shitty on his part, especially when no one made sure that the number attached to the contract was changed,
i am at ep 9, and i cannot make sense of the resolution for that stalker conflict. so they justified what akin…
I honestly couldn't tell you. That's what some people were theorising here in the comments and it kind of make sense. But Akin has a tendency to take the blame for everything and to be too forgiving so even that was the reason that scene doesn’t really sit well with me. Especially with how creepy she was in the supermarket (again amazing job on the actress part).
bruh I literally forgot all of that because I loved the ending so much but you're 100% right... I'm gonna let…
If you were a weekly viewer that's totally understandable. I was lucky to start the show this week so everything is still fresh for me. And honestly even with that criticism it didn’t really impact my rating. With everything else being so good compared to most BLs I couldn't see myself penalising this one for something every others rarely do either. I just couldn't give it a 10 for those issues since they happen back to back which makes them even more obvious.
Definitely one of the best BL. Their chemistry is undeniable and Boom is probably one of the best actor in the genre. His crying scenes in particular were beautiful and the one in ep 7 actually made me tear up which I never would have seen coming, especially from a thai BL. Overall they've had a pretty healthy relationship, never letting a conflict fester for too long so it was nice to see. There were some cringy moments here and there but they're easy to overlook again thanks to their chemistry. The smut scenes were surprisingly well shot outside of the honey that kinda ruined their first one for me. The idea of it just gross me out with how sticky it would be and the texture of it against the skin, I wish instead of the black & white version in the re-edit they would have shown a honey-less version 😅
The only issue I have with the drama is the lack of consequences for any of the antagonistic characters. It is realistic that not all of them would get what they deserved but we had 3 or 4 episodes back to back where someone attack Akin or a tragedy happens to him. And every single time he is the one apologizing, taking the fall or being the bigger person or whatever you want to call it. He never received an apology from any of the perpetrators. I was scared that he wouldn't receive one from Jin in EP 7 but I'm so glad I was proven wrong.
It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth that Johnny is getting out of it like nothing happenned. Why ? Because they have him on a leash thanks to the recording ? I don't buy it. To me it feels unrealistic with the way Jin behave around Akin, he is too protective to let it slide that it easily, especially when they're in contact quite regularly. The fact that on top that he'll probably get a romantic relationship gives me flashback to that "couple" in the Love By Chance/Tharn Type universe that I'm so glad was never adapted into a BL. Granted it's not totally comparable since that character, unlike Johnny, actually went through the SA but that's still not a good look considering the reason he didn't go through it.
Worst the fact that the stalker was forgiven and somehow validated blows my mind. That scene with Akin I have no words. I saw the comments here and some theories makes sense for it to be Akin's way to protect himself but still I wish they had shot this scene differently. I don't know, still make her believe that it was ok but shoot it in a way where as a viewer we can see that Akin was just acting. Also no hand holding. I will on the other hand give all the credits to the actress, she was amazing in that supermarket scene. She didn't have much screentime but she definitely made it count in that scene.
I would put the Sigma CEO on that list but since there's a second and potentially third season there's still a chance for his company to collapse. Fingers crossed for that.
The only good is the kisses but when is the real thing going to start i want full on vampires all until now is…
From what we've seen in episode 6 it seems to be (or I hope rather) building up in the background. Both Tong and Mark having a false sense of security thinking Nakan doesn't know anything but he clearly does. Which if it's what they're doing I'm not mad about it, this way we can get genuine sweet moments and development for their relationship since they feel safe instead of having it in the middle of all the drama and having those sweet moments feeling out of place. But I agree that they should sart slowing down the sweetness from now on and I hope what happened with the little girl is the beginning of that.
LOVED this drama a lot.Invested my Time n Heart in this so much that it makes me HULK GREEN (Angry) now, after…
It's been a few months since I read it so I might have forgotten a couple of things. Right after Sheng Wang intentionnally failed his test and immediately regrets they go to a camp to prepare for the competition where they room together. Jiang Tian gets sick and Sheng Wang take care of him. They admit to their feelings during that time and decide to keep it a secret. When they are nearing the end of the year, planning to move in together in an apartment outside the dorm, Sheng Wang even got a cat for Jiang Tian like the one he used to have as a kid, they get found out and everything blow up in their face. The parents immediately separate them, I think Jiang Tian goes abroad with his mom. Both parents have negative reaction but Jiang Tian's mom never really recover from it. Mostly because of the history with Jiang Tian's father but get transfered onto Sheng Wang if I remember correctly.
They meet again years later and it's like nothing really changed, neither of them forgot the other and they, for the most part, start back where they left off. Obviously there are some conflicts with the parents, and the father coming back but the conflicts aren't really between Jiang Tian and Sheng Wang. For the secondary couples, the one with the professors was portrayed differently in the novel. They were together the whole time and when Sheng Wang overhear them he actually founds out that they are together which helps him realize his feelings for Jiang Tian. Also I'm pretty sure Jiang Tian knew about their relationship the whole time. Go Tian Yang and Pepper I think it took them a while but they obviously ended up together as well. There aren't too many changes from between the novel and what they did in the first season. The only thing they did worse in my opinion is the professor couple.
Hope you don't mind if I didn't go in too much details. My memory sucks so I didn't want to say wrong things and if somehow you want to read it or they get the budget to do a season 2 you won't have too many details even if you know the grand lines of the story.
And I agree that the cliffhanger is frustrating but honestly it was probably the best option to end season 1. Ending after their parents found out would be an even worse cliffhanger to be left on 😅
I think it's made this way because of a posible second season.
It's adapted from a book so it was definitely in the hope of getting a season 2. And even if they do make a season 2 I recommend not to expect that feel good tone for the entirety of it. They'll go through some pretty difficult time. Quite frankly it was probably the best moment to cut season 1 because if season 2 happen we will still get some of the feel good moments before getting to the tougher parts.
Well, were you born like your mother pulled you out of a tree? People like you are too conservative in the middle…
First off I'm gay. Neither the first comment nor did I say those scenes were not important or shouldn't be happenning. Obviously I can't speak for them, but the thing I'm criticizing is their length and frequency to the detriment of the plot and the character development. Which I think is fair crticism but everytime you bring that up you're directly put in the conservative box which again is ridiculous. Sorry to break it to you but everything is not black or white there's nuance to it. Is it important that we are able to see this without it being censored ? 1000%. But I think it is way more important to normalize a good and healthy relationship between gay people, with a good plot. To show that we love just the same and that we can get the same kind of series without needing an entire genre of our own in the hope of having regular main characters. Not a dozen poorly made sex scenes like we sometimes get instead of one or two really good ones. Because like you said some people can't accept homosexuality. They would just as easily judge them as perverts or predators. We shouldn't appease them by not doing these scenes but let's not pretend that the overabondance of those scenes isn't some of kind of fetishisation for some of these authors/writers. Which is just as homophobic.
Again what I'm criticizing is gratuitous sex scenes. If it fits the development of the relationship or the plot sure go ahead (all the BL with sex friends for example) but in the case of 4 minutes it feels unecessary and just for shock value. The straight scene is definitely included in that btw. If they were shorter it would have had the same impact and with the episodes already not being that long they could have used that time.
Probably my last message here since I don't want to spam this page for no reason. But pleast read properly instead of putting word in my mouth
Well, were you born like your mother pulled you out of a tree? People like you are too conservative in the middle…
I'll use a spoiler because it has nothing to do with Spare Me Your Mercy.
While I don't really see the point in bringing up 4minutes here I also hate those kind of answers. I have no issue with sex scenes but they were unnecessarily long in 4minutes. And I'm not even going to mention how they decided to fulfill those Durex sponsorships that was just cringy. I know that BL fans loooove their sex scenes but everytime someone complains when there's too many of them the clap back is always about how conservative the person is which is just ridiculous. Can you seriously tell me that an 8 episode show with a convoluted plot needed 2 really long sex scenes with side characters in the first 2 episodes ? Couldn't they, I don't know, use part of that screentime to develop the plot more or for world building ? But I guess I'm conservative for excepting show with interesting concept to deliver on that aspect.
the side couple getting a real kiss but not the main couple just proves this was the lead actors decision NOT…
I would agree most of the time but it's the one situation where I couldn't blame them especially if it came from August. It's already toeing the line with the big age difference but actually kissing would be a little too much. I know it's acting but he's still with underage costar so it may not be a comfortable position to be in. For all we know it might be a decision coming from the parents and I couldn't blame them either in that situation.
This is an insane take.. the director says he chose not to do kisses in Addicted because he wanted to ''revolutionize''…
Feels more like a cop-out to avoid saying one is underage so it would be weird. It might even had been planned at first but the parents or even hero's actor were like it's not happening. Because if it's to show the acting not only is it a fail but also a well shot kiss would definitely show that as well imo. It's obviously not a good crying scene (so rare in Thaï Bls) but not every couple have good chemistry or managed to show the emotions of the characters through a kiss.
They better be making a sequel this instant cause wtf was that :/ delete the second couple from the show, just…
Yes it is an elite class for sciences they told us that in the first episode. They make it so dramatic because even if he said he didn't Sheng Wang definitely failed on purpose. Jiang Tian takes it so poorly because he feels it his fault and probably like it's a rejection with Sheng Wang ignoring him the entire episode. Which as we've seen from his past is something quite sensitive for him, especially when it's someone he thought for once wouldn't go away. Also they're teenagers even without taking all that into account it's not that absurd for them to overreact for something that may seem small to us.
The changing class thing is a new rule they implemented like 2 episodes ago because students weren't taking exams seriously enough or something.
Let’s be upfront: assigning a drama a rating of 1 is a pretty extreme move, and it requires a well-founded and…
Too different from the book is such an absurd criticism. I'm reading along after the episodes and I'm pretty sure than in the BL I've only seen one scene that happened a little later than it did in the book. Otherwise it's just more context or slightly longer than it was in the show since we also get to be in their head when we read.
