Yes, In the novel, Pharan feels like he's responsible for grandma Si's death by meddling in Khem's fate even though his grandfather warned him not to. They don't know grandma Si died a natural death and they don't know about the monk. So he doesn't stop Khem when he leaves bc he doesn't want other villagers to die bc of him. It's only later when he finds out about grandma Si's death being natural and stops blaming himself. And then he finds out about the monk and finds a way to save to Khem. I really don't understand why they brought the monk and the way to save Khem this early on in the show. It makes Khem leaving seem so unreasinable.
Just finished watching the show and glad they changed the ending scenc from the novel. This was a heart breaking scene and I don't I have the capacity of to be mad at Peem aswell.
