Fumiya repeatedly tells people they broke up. Sure they probably would have worked it out, but he told Ritsu he couldn't live with him anymore and then told everyone else they broke up. So for Fumiya, he simultaneously was so fed up that he wanted to end things and he was still desperate to keep the relationship working. Those 2 don't usually happen at the same time. And ultimately he didn't try to make a new relationship with Ritsu like he originally planned either. So his end goal was a little fuzzy for me.
