That was really good but omgg so frustrating, these issues were exaggerated so much from the main character, thank god shin has a heart of steal. Anyway I guess now to watch season 2 😅
It's funny how everyone is dunking on this show but it is my most favourite show of all time. My literal autistic obsession. The moment anything bad happens in my life I am back here over an over and I will watch it over and over again for the rest of my life. It is so so innocent and has all the funny conversations I remember having as a teenager. it shows the awkwardness of crushes and navigating what it means to be in a relationship, your first relationship. This show just shows to me the opposite neurodivergents, one super expressive but one not expressive much at all. Adorable.

I think the ending was rushed since I heard that it wasn't in the book, and that the books ending is very different and a happy ending. The drama is too complex for it to just be a car accident, they definitely had to redo the ending their way to suit the budget.

I love like all the bls you mentioned and now have some new ones from your list to watch as well :) If you haven't watched this yet, I recommend "Punks Triangle", after watching it, it is one of my favourite bls ever, and shows the more alt side of queer culture, which has never really been shown in bls before!
I hope that the bl space in japan will continue to grow, I still think with japan we have a long way to go since bl is not normalized there despite japan being the biggest movement and influence of queer media for a long time, until thailand. Thailand is accepting of queer culture, and are now getting recognition after so long, there shows reviews even pushing to the top dramas on Mydramalist, which is so exciting! Since in so many places bl is still considered a taboo, it's going to be a while before we see a purely highly rated bl, especially from japan. Now that bl is becoming almost an industry of it's own and drawing in both international and internal investors, we can look forward to more and higher quality bls. It's going to take a while, but we're getting there :)
I actually think that a little fluffy show like this getting such high reviews is a fantastic thing! because of the positivity around this show, it's going to increase the budgets and quality for the future because now entertainment companies are going to see them as profitable! Though I am still sad about our favs not getting the reviews they deserve, at lease we something to look forward to :)

I respectfully disagree, I love this show so much, the tension and everything is amazing to me, a possessive lead and scenes I haven't seen done before in the bl space(imo). as for the other good Japanese shows, I also rate them 10/10 as I would this show.
A lot of the time with japanese bls, especially older ones, they can be rampaged with homophobic smears causing the rate to be lower. Japan is still a very homophobic place. Because live action bl in japan is becoming more international they are now getting the recognition they deserve. I think if a lot of them were to be posted now their reviews will be higher and closer to this one. I think people used to be so intense and strict with reviews but now people are becoming more open and actually try to love the art.
I think what you are feeling isn't anger towards this show getting good reviews but frustration for works you love not getting the love they deserve, and that's completely valid, and I am frustrated too. I think this show is worthy of all the hype and I love it so much, it's okay if it's not your cup of tea, everyone likes different things for a reason. but you should put more love towards the shows you like than hate the ones that have the reviews you wish with your favs had. I'd love to hear rather the other japanese shows that you like since I feel we have more community and recommendations to share :)

I think this view is too generalized, humans have multiple responses to panic: fight, flight, and freeze, and even sometimes fawn. I know I am someone who freezes in panic, which why is her reaction is normal to me. I wouldn't immediately run, especially if I am in an unfamiliar environment and my boyfriend is missing. We can all say "I would do it differently", but that's because we aren't in their situation and can learn from what they did wrong to help strengthen our own pattern recognition for a similar time.

Honesty, I would have reacted the same way as her. In such a situation you don't have the mental capacity to do the best possible action, you are in panic. If you've have never been in this situation, how would you know how to act and best get rid of drugs that isn't yours? With her you can see her brain is confused, she has a social responsibility to give the cops the drugs, but if she does, now they will think she a drug dealer. I would panic, I would freeze, I would spiral, I would call my boyfriend, i would go into the back with no security camera to get rid of the drugs, and if the cops came and I saw my boyfriend there, I would yell and resist too, since he knew that I wasn't the one who brought drugs. I think imo her reaction was normal, she is so young, how could she know better. I feel like in this situation you would feel so ashamed that you wouldnt be able to run like everyone else when your known in your social circle to be the upright one.
This production is absolutely phenomenal, the acting, color grading, camera work, music, intro, what a damn start! what's confusing is why is it so low rated, i guess some could consider 8.0 high for a gl, but are people blind? Is it because it's a gl? cause that episode blew me away in every way!! I will be watching this show religiously.
I am so mad for what they did for the last episode. However, 99% was a fantastic show. Sad to see how much the ratings are going down, must be because of how it ended tbh. I rated 8.5/10, it was really great, if they didn't rush everything to the max the last episode. Plus there was some weird plots like the past on why hua yong likes him, it doesn't seem enough to me on why he's obsessed. If you're wondering if you should watch it. YOU ABSOLUTELY SHOULD, WATCH THIS IT'S SO GOOD.

I just finished this and I feel the same way. I feel like in terms of vibe and intensity the only thing I know that's somewhat close is Not Me or Until We Meet Again. I definitely agree with the comment below tho, this is completely in its own league.
