Well yes i agree that the bullying was severe and i also agree that the writers absoulutely romantacised it. However, the fl punched the ml for when he was setting boundaries with his stalker, insults him in front of the class when he didnt even instigate her, poked at his insecurity( his mom didnt love him lol).
