only thing that doesn't make sense is that the same set of sensitive people crave for tearjerkers in a show despite claiming themselves as sensitive people but can't bare to watch horror of sorts.

prolly sensitive people were expecting the creators to stuff the entire mystery, omnious and spooky moments into a single episode so that they can get over with it so that the rest of 7 episodes is a tearjerker melodrama even if the rest of the story becomes a filler.

Well... since you didn't like the Korean version which was a nice series.. probably you won't like this neither...
True I didn't find it toxic as well because it was real take on love/hate or "push and pull" relationships they've done well with it. altough many found both ml and FL's dynamics complex entire animosity went to ML's side and people started seeing him as a toxic character but no one noticed the FL's impulsive and immature decision.
