Episode 3 is the best yet. The story of each sister is great. Lee Sung Kyoung is just plain etheral with her beauty. Han Ji Hyeon is cuteness personified. Oh Yeju is perhaps the prettiest actress in Korea under 25, a 21 year old chemistry machine.
MDL is pretty tight lipped about the algorithm and how it works to cut down on people trying to manipulate it.…
Thank you. I wondered how they divided their numbers by age, but they do. And I suspected the weighting of the average. Yet, the truth is, try as they might trolls can manipulate this rating -- especially in these early episodes.
If you want side romances then this is the drama for you. I believe each sister has a romance led by our main couple and then we have Grandma's romance. Four couples in a 12 episode Kdrama. Now that is romance!
I have a question for those who are hardened veterans of MDL. How does this platform come up with its rating? In your stats. by age the lowest score is 7.9 by those who are 35-44 but they are only 6.4% of the those who have put in a rating. The next is 8.0 by those who are 25-34 with 26.6% of those who have rated this drama. Every other age group is above 8.0 including the important demographic of those who are 18-24 who score this at 8.4 with 25% of the total rating. So what is the formula of how this drama gets an 8.0 with these MDL stats?
Good news continues to flow in. IYRS was the number 1 drama on Disney in Japan and ranked 6th internationally. Heck Disney as of now only has it streaming on a few countries in Asia. On IDMB the ratings are starting to kick in with a very strong 9 out of 10 stars. But that is with less than 100 votes and will certainly go lower. If it ends up with a rating above 7 that would be fantasic for a kdrama.
The trolls did their worst to this drama and they were able to drive down the ratings below 8. Well their effect lasted about 24 hours. We are now at 8.1 and on the rise. With less than 700 viewers rating IYRS so far, wait unto that number reaches 2 or 3 thousand. If the quality continues this could be the best romcom of 2026.
And we still have one major storyline to develop -- the youngest Song sister played by the beautiful Oh Yeju. We have only seen her, so far, in two short scenes. On the surface she is the perfect youngest sister. Top in her class. In a relationship with the best high school pitcher in Korea, who is getting major offers to pitch in the States. According to the early clues about this drama she announces something that turns the whole household into turmoil.
In case you are not familar with this young actress, take a look at the chemistry she produced with Moon Sang Min in Under the Queens Umbrella and Hong Minki in Love Your Enemy. In my personal opinion she is the most visual actress of her generation (those under 25).
Of course the love lines are kicking in with our ML and FL. It has started with our middle Song sister with the company COO. Of course Grandma Song and the cool coffee guys romance has begun. The littlest Song sister's story is about to take off with in a loveline where the people in the drama say is a wonderful example of pure and first love. The rating are going to get even higher.
Just like I thought the rating is on the rise again. The truth is at the end of the day trolls won't win in the face of a good drama. And this is a really good one. Visuals are wonderful and the story line is warm and comfortable. With this great cast and leadership we should expect nothing less than one of the best dramas of the year. Director Park Seon Ho directed Business Proposal, Our Strange Hero, Wok of Love, and Suspicous Partner among others. Producer Park Sang Hyun produced Twinkling Watermelon and The Secret Romantic Guest House. Screenwriter Jo Sung Hee was the writer for Still 17. Talk about a great team for a Kdrama. I expect that by episode 6 this drama will be 8.5 or above.
Probably people who for whatever reason don't like either the FL or ML and so they come on and give the drama a 1 or 2. Don't worry about it, only 265 reviews have been cast. In a few weeks it will be in the thousands.
Thanks for letting us know how you feel. I am sure you will find better dramas to watch. Now that we know how…
Here is my advice for you: Temper, temper go away, come again another day. I used to say this to my son when he was 2 years old. I think it fits you pretty well.
Don't worry about the trolls. This is a really good drama and it is going to end up well above 8. We had about 80 people drive the D down from 8.4 to 7.4, but their influence will become less and less as more people without a negative agenda tune in. The trolls did the same thing over at Viki with Taxi Driver 3. After the first two episodes it was about 7.7 but it ended at 9.7. The old saying hold true: "Cream will always rise to the top."
okay post Episode 1 & 2: I have already said that it's lazy and tropey AF. But here's another thing I felt…
Thanks for letting us know how you feel. I am sure you will find better dramas to watch. Now that we know how you feel there is no further need to post unless you change your mind. Unless, of course, you are a person who only wants to troll this drama for any reason.
Hello? Where are people watching this in the US? It's not available for me.
I am reading different dates. Next week or March 2. On the Disney Website for upcoming March drama they say on March 2 they will have new episodes of IYRS not premeire episodes. With that in mind I think next week. Disney ticks me off because they are not explict liki Netflix, Prime, and Vicki on the exact starting date. Once you get through all the crap platforms like KissAsian are available and not bad. Hope this helps.
MDL has posted it's opening score -- 8.4. Great start. The last Kdrama where I read so much conjecture of who was who is the Secret Romantic Guest House over just who was the real Grand Prince.
