well, crap. I really didn't enjoy the jdrama Nodame Cantabile, yet Joo Won's one of my favorite Korean actors ><;; now I'm feeling conflicted...
Thanks for the info, though ^^

Aw, thanks ^^ I was a bit worried I'd rambled too much for a concise review.
I agree, it is kind of hard to find a non-whiny heroine. The one in AWC does admittedly take a long while to finally grow her backbone, but I was so impressed by the growth she showed by the end that I let that qualm go. She's not overly self-pitying, just a tad too submissive at the beginning. For me, though, that contrast from who she is at the beginning to who she becomes by the end just made it that much more moving when she did finally stand up for herself.
My profile's a combination of Photoshop and having my own Photobucket account so the pictures are never moved or deleted.
I was all set to give this melodrama a solid 8 for how it set up its story and fully embraced having cliches and developing them in a well-paced and believable manner... until the second half of the final episode. That final conflict made my opinion of the drama drop a whole point for how contrived and unnecessary it was. My hands were definitely thrown up in disbelief over that ending.

Thanks for accepting my request ^^ I really like your icon and name. A Doge, watching dramas? Many amuse. Much smile :p
Your profile is lovely, btw :> I especially liked what you said about Shining Inheritance. That stepmother... it was the first drama I ever watched all the episodes of in one sitting, just 'cause I couldn't believe how she much further she kept sinking and scheming o.O It was my first introduction to the Evil Mothers of Dramas and I don't think she's yet to be surpassed for first place @.@

Thanks ^^ lol I noticed that too, our similar systems. It definitely helps me keep my expectations straight :p
Somehow the version I downloaded and watched had 40 episodes at about 43 mins a pop, which somehow made it that much more psychologically draggy, I think... ><
Hear Me is an amazing movie ^^ I'll add the other two to my PTW as well, they seem interesting. Thanks for the recs!
I think a Japanese movie along the same thread of those mentioned is "Miracle / I Wish / Kiseki." It's pretty light-hearted and focuses on children's lives while exploring the effect of adult decisions - like divorce or gambling - on kids.
I've noticed this trope as well in various j-dramas and a few tw-dramas and it really bothers me. Worse than the adult who has flashbacks to being abandoned by his/her mother as a child, though, I think is when the story is about kids whose guardianship falls to some distant relative or someone else because their mother has up and left them (usually after the father has died), and then, right when the patchwork family is starting to get adapt to its new rhythm, the mother COMES BACK, cries a few sorrowful tears making some lame excuse about why she left her kids in the hands of a near stranger, and gets the kids BACK! Like, it doesn't even matter that her doing this once means it could increase the risk of it happening again; no concerns are even raised about the possible psychological damage on the child! Marumo no Okite and Down With Love are prime examples of this dreadfulness -.-
I just finished watching o.o My God, it is so good... I loved the actors, the compact story... it didn't feel like there were any filler episodes or misplaced story lines or anything... One of the best series I've watched as of yet =^.^=
Thanks for the info, though ^^
