FSG makes a very good point when he asks why hasn’t your precious prince come to look for you yet……everything…
They're also my top 2 suspects as the mystery person who shot her off the cliff. I guess figuring out if it really is XJS or XWR is going to be half the fun, the other half is figuring out their motive and if there's another mastermind behind them or not
Thought this would be a light watch with cute leads and decent chemistry. Why are they forcing me to use my brain to analyse stuff😭 like how is FL the leader of her realm if she can't even beat 2FL or go toe to toe with ML when he's not badly injured by his loser brother???😂 Well I guess the phoenix bloodline thing is her "power"
Went into this thinking it would be amazing due to all the online hype and I was sorely disappointed. Besides the palace intrigue and political stuff, they had no business trying to sell the leads' "romance in this. What's that chinese saying 🤔 "a forced melon isnt sweet" or something along those lines.
Like I'll eat up a hot, morally grey, obsessive, possessive ML any day but only if his FL matches his freak and reciprocates his feelings; which I didnt believe the FL in this did tbh. Love triangles(or square in this case) is one of my least favourite tropes, couple that with the fact that they barely showed the feelings or spark developing between JXN and XW and by the time they got around to showing any hint of their romance I had already lost interest in them as a couple. I did stick around for Xie Ju'an outsmarting everyone and dealing with the baddies.
I will say though that I really liked that epilogue scene at the end of episode 38 where their son is gushing over Zhang Zhe's accomplishments and Xie Wei trips him, kicks his bum a little then proceeds to gaslight that little boy into taking back his request to hire ZZ as his teacher "don't do anything against your conscience"😂, guess his jealousy is still alive and well years later😂😂
Thanks for taking the time to write your thoughts out about this drama. I definitely agree with a lot of your opinions esp about the lack of romance and heavy emphasis on my least favourite trope the love triangle(square lol) that FL had going on. I saw someone refer to her character as a femme fatale in her previous life, and given the way all 3 men lost it over her then I was expecting someone bolder or charming.
Welp atp I'm watching just to finish. ML is an anti-hero of sorts and i usually enjoy characters like that but I can't believe I'm rooting more for his takedown of the Xue family than his romantic interest in the FL. Speaking of FL she gets less smart as the episodes go on which is weird given her foresight...
The opening voiceover was not it because it just reminded me of CW's The Vampire diaries for some reason and how they'd start each episode with a character recapping the previous episode; but SOKP fumbled it imo, I'd rather they had given us an opening song instead.
I started this drama because I was in a drama slump for a while and ppl online kept raving about how this is a classic and the best thing since sliced bread. I personally don't think so but to each their own. I almost dropped it at episode 4 if I'm being honest but picked it back up recently just to see what happens to the "baddies" as you called them. The leads didn't match my freak like you said so my rating won't be as generous as yours😅
🙈 @ people in comments saying nothing will ever compare, y'all need to go check out Chinese wuxia and xianxia…
No fr lol, wuxia/xianxia C-dramas are in a league of their own. After finishing AoS a few years ago, I was also looking for something to fill the void, and stumbled on "Who Rules the World" and haven't looked back since🥹
I guess she will continue lying till old age, best of luck to the ML
Lmaoo🤣🤣😭 I just could not understand why she kept lying to him especially after she'd decided to come clean about their baby. I was so confused and pissed because there was no need to lie, AT ALL(then again maybe she got so used to lying to him🤔). But like you said good luck to ML, he's the one that has to deal with it😂
I too enjoy short episodes dramas once in a while, especially if they have sizzle. This story here is more formulaic…
Lol the more spice/chemistry the better imo. I like it when certain tropes, esp my fav tropes, are used and executed properly. It enhances the viewing experience for me. As good as Embrace In the Dark Night was, for me, this drama is in another league entirely ngl❤️ I told myself I'd wait for the last episodes to drop before watching again but I might not last that long cos the suspense from the office scene with the evil sister is eating at me. If it ends on a high note and without any regret I'll definitely rewatch it😄
It's been a while since I watched a mini C-drama that hooked me like this, this drama is giving me everything I've been looking for and more🔥. The chemistry between the leads, their visuals, their intimate scenes, ML's ott flirting and actions(as exaggerated as it is, he does it so well that it comes across as hilarious, entertaining, and charming to me😄), the cast also all doing an amazing job in their respective roles(I hate FL's sis and 1st love rn so they must be doing something right lol). There are a few plot holes here and there but this isn't a full-length drama with a regular budget so it's not a big deal for me and hasn't taken away from my enjoyment of the show at all. I also think the cast and crew have done an amazing job with the show so far, given the limited resources. I just hope they manage to wrap it up nicely so I can give it the 10 "couch leaping" stars it deserves😂❤️
The milk thing is their safe word. And yeah… stay on for the ride! I expected something more vanilla myself😅
I don't understand how anyone who has watched or is watching this would think it's good writing. I've read books with better depictions of BDSM than the writers/producers of this drama managed to put together😭 Also toxicity when executed properly in fiction is appreciated, might not be everyone's cup of tea but it's appreciated. I found the story/plot awkward and cringy with a healthy dash of confusion thrown into the mix so yeah it wasn't for me. I also think I dropped this drama because I can't remember anything about it besides the milk thing. I hope you can find something to gush about when you're done watching.
I don't understand Mu Zi. Why is she interested in Zhuo? Wasn't she in bed with Yue all the time. Despicable.…
I didn't like Mu Zi at first either but after watching the last episode I understand her character a little better now. Chen Yue deserved to suffer more if you ask me but at least she got the opportunity to bring him to justice.
I just started and am a bit confused.. are they married or not? I’m up to the episode where the wife (ex?) was…
They're divorced but keeping up appearances bc of ML's FIL and the company I guess. The FL doesn't sleep with her marks, she is usually hired to catch cheating husbands who have mistresses. As you've probably already seen by now the woman who hired her this time, Yin Yi, is a psycho and a manipulative liar to boot. She hired Han Qing knowing fully well her (ex) husband was not cheating😑
Well I guess the phoenix bloodline thing is her "power"
