I agree with the comments expressing disappointment in the writing of the ML character and overacting at times. It's a shame how they wrote the ML. She will probably be a better decision maker than Mr Xu, she earned the trust and the respect of the soldiers in the first battle. They all were so happy to see her when she joined them out there and even asked her for the strategy they ended up using. Mr Xu just sent them out to die with no tactics of what to do when they were out there. It's actually irresponsible. I doubt she will ever sacrifice her men for herself, she would probably rather die. Even though she let emotion get in the way in the end it was all her strategy in that first battle.

Love Zhang Tian Ai's portrayal of A Mai, her male mannerism doesn't ever stops. When she found SML by the river bank, she still acted male, even though she was on her own.

He is killing all the kids/men born in the same year ML was born, because the former crown prince’s son was born in that year. That son would have claim to the throne. He doesn’t know ML is that kid, but is killing off all them in the hope to kill the rightful heir.

So far I do not see it that way. He hasn't been using her, most of the times she has helped him, they sort of bump into each other. There is only one time he asked her to go with them for the passport, that was not to use her, it was to keep her close because he already likes her not for strategy. He is already getting jealous of 3ML and creating imaginary friends who die on the spot, when FL takes an interest in them lol....
