This is a show that allows you to experience life to the fullest. Some may say it is slow, but that is because it is deep and raw. The acting is superb, the production is animated and lively, the plot is honest. If I could find a way to thank every person who worked on this, from the actors to the directors to the light crew to the interns, I would. This show aims to slow you down and see what other shows avoid. The simple act of living. Not getting rich, not falling into passionate love, not solving a murder mystery. It doesn't need pizzazz to grab you, if you watch it with a sincere heart.
Honestly, I tried. But if you are a scientist, then some of these things just naturally bother you. From An Lan randomly pressing on a PCR machine to analyse a DNA sample to how the looping is caused by genetics (???).
ML's acting was great, FL seems to not have been guided properly in the science, BUT she was great. It was refreshing to have a FL that is intelligent and strong.
The rest of the cast were good, as well as a very well-produced show. However, the show should have consulted with actual scientists. The greatest weakness in a sci-fi is when fiction overshadows the science. Science is magical and thrilling as it is, so make it logical not fanciful.
Also, my favorite scene was in ep13. May be the best villian and protagonist chat I have seen. It was hilarious, especially with the BGM.
If someone were to ask if I liked or hated this drama, my answer would be that I struggled to get through it. Ridiculous. That is what I want to say. A waste of time. From the age gap of the actors, the lack of chemisty between the mains (I don't need skinship, but make it believable), the overly dramatic scenes forced on some of the characters. My biggest pet peeve are double standards, and I have to say: Yes, Xue Fangfei went through ONE night that changed her life. So, she aims to avenge herself. BUT was the princess not the same? The princess is the person Xue Fangfei would be if she had gone through years rather than ONE NIGHT of misfortune.
Worst show I have seen with no character development, no unique personalities, and misinterpreting filler-in symbolism as content.
The only reason I gave it a 4 is because of the magnificent acting from Eldest Princess and Shen Yurong.
Honestly, this is an issue I noticed that is very common in Asian series, but it was most prevalent in C-Dramas. Because of the toxic masculinity male leads had, it really put me off watching a C-drama to the end. Another thing that stood out to me was the lack of strength or independence most female leads had. It is frustrating that even when the FL was considered a Kung Fu master, she would still be too weak to defend herself. In recent years, I have noticed that in K-dramas there has been an increase in diverse FL personalities and portrayal of more realistic ML (not the constant cold and domineering type). This shift in K-dramas to show healthier relationships is a breath of fresh air. I do hope that C-dramas begin to diversify their FL's and ML's personalities to promote healthier and realistic relationships, and to give actors a chance to show off new sides to their acting! Absolutely a wonderful article, thank you for sharing!

Will definitely watch it again.
