Joseph & duling literally have no chemistry. THEY GAVE US NOTHING
That take doesn’t hold up. They’ve barely had any screen time to begin with, and even within that limited time, they’re often stuck narrating or supporting another couple’s storyline and dynamic.
And yet, despite all of that, their chemistry still comes through as incredibly magnetic. It’s not subtle either their couple super topic on Weibo has consistently ranked #1 throughout Veil of Shadow’s airing. That doesn’t happen without a strong connection that audiences can clearly feel and making them wanting to contribute to it.

Did i miss something? The actors are saying they got tricked by the director, or it is jus your guess?
There’s no point in arguing if you’re going to ignore all the context that’s been presented. I could ask you the same question, how can you determine whether GJM is a good person when you’ve overlooked his past reported problematic behavior? You also said that actors and fans are powerless. If that’s the case, should we just accept problematic behavior and stay quiet instead of speaking up? Then should people who speak up about yu meng long case be shunned too?

GJM is a major name in the industry despite a history of controversies after his scandal and problematic treatment towards his actors and staff and even till now he got canceled because he was caught plagiarizing other materials so much so that he had to use different names and aliases on his dramas. Thats why listed in VOS as the director is person named lu jue, when in truth it was gjm alias name. And yet after all this he was still able to make dramas.

Do you think this kind of person would survive till this day if he dont have strong backing in the entertainment industry?. Of course no sane actor would easily call him out, do you wanna get black listed from the industry?. Actors are expected to stay professional and avoid conflict. But fans, as the audience investing time and money, have every right to voice dissatisfaction with how things are handled.

It's pretty well known in C-ent that when contracts are being discussed, directors only show the first 5 eps to prevent leaks if the deal falls through senior actors have confirmed this. This is why there is a thing called yin yang script where directors trick actors into signing scripts that look good at the beginning only to be altered in the later parts. And from VOS first five episodes, the screen time actually looked quite balanced. But it gradually became worse in the later part.

Why these actors work with gjm? For Dudu case, Gjm actually visited chen duling’s the glory filming set a couple of time, pestering her 3 times until she agreed for this role. Believing what is promised at the beginning and after signing contract being professional and not messy doesn't mean accepting being sidelined especially as first billing.

I dont know why we are defending gjm and his unfair practices here but it seems like a common occurrence here. I’m focusing my criticism on him, but some are taking it as an attack on other actors (please call out anyone who does that).

Just as Jilu babies enjoy Jilu scenes, Wuwu fans want to see Wuwu. Not everyone has the same preferences, and people shouldn’t be
shunned to say everything is fine just to keep the peace. When a project is promoted with four equal leads but doesn’t deliver on that promise, disappointment is inevitable and speaking up about it is valid.

Dismissing these concerns simply because they disrupt others’ enjoyment feels unfair, especially when it comes with occasional snide remarks.

I just copied and paste this from someone else's post. And according to the screen times there isn't much difference…
People are sharing a fake screen-time chart to justify the Wuwu couple is being sidelined don’t trust random charts without a clear source. I’ve already posted a detailed breakdown in the gallery, including Wu Wangyan and Wu Shiguang’s solo screen time plus their scenes together and what percentage it made overall compared to each episode and total time. Note that the total may be slightly overestimated, as it also includes moments where they only appear blurred in the background.

In my opinion , gjm isn’t a good writer of female characters
I can’t say I agree with how Wu Wangyan is written here. Her arc had real potential: an awakening, a resistance against Jiuying, perhaps even leading the Wuxiang Yue foxes toward freedom. Instead, she’s largely reduced to a narrative device introduced with promise, then set aside just as quickly.

Compared to other characters, Wu Wangyan is never given a substantial storyline or a defining arc. She doesn’t get the kind of narrative focus that allows a character to truly evolve. If anything, it’s only because Chen Duling brings nuance and presence to the role that audiences have been able to connect with her as much as they do. Strip that away, and objectively speaking… the character feels underwritten.

Of course, expanding her role would have required redistributing screen time, and gjm surely wouldn’t want that.

Well, what a remarkable achievement 29 episodes, 40 minutes each, a grand total of 1,160 minutes… and somehow Chen Duling manages to grace only totaling about 90 minutes of them solo. Truly, a masterclass in the art of “blink and you’ll miss it” screen presence.

And yet, with that limited presence, she’s still consistently ranking in the top four of current drama character heat charts. Her fans, have been tirelessly supporting her, despite what many see as less-than-equitable treatment from the production team. This is, after all, the same team that was called out for selectively boosting and buying engagement for other’s video while didn’t do the same for hers, only adjusting course once people started to call it out. Even using her picture as clickbait when the true video didn’t feature her scene or only 10% of her scenes.

Ironically, her performance has been widely praised, though not without a common frustration: just as viewers become immersed in her scenes, the videl abruptly cuts away, leaving that emotional momentum hanging midair. It’s an editing choice that feels almost strategically timed though perhaps “unfortunate coincidence” is the more polite term considering what this drama team capable of doing during this time ie so many deliberate act to sideline her during promotion, writing wrong name on her promo poster, writing captions to undermine her characters, down playing her pain and didn’t develop her character in the drama and many more.

Meanwhile, her fans continue to invest financially and creatively through cloud bookings, app rankings, and an endless stream of content and fan art. Even her CP pairing, “Wuwu,” currently dominates as the top CP super topic and ranks second overall, just behind VOS and if continues its projected to surpass VOS. Again remember that this is real fans diligently doing data for characters that barely show up on the screen.

So it’s a bit perplexing to see that when fans raise concerns about this imbalance, the response in some corners including here in mdl by some people is dismissiveness or thinly veiled snark directed not just at them, but at her as well. At this point, it becomes less about differing opinions and more about what people are willing to overlook for the sake of their own viewing comfort.

If calling out inconsistency and unfairness is enough to invite ridicule, then perhaps there isn’t much left to say.

When literally all chu zhao’s major arc and scene are shared or taken away, i don’t even know how this drama story line gonna be. Maybe chu zhao will not be chu zhao after all. Maybe all the other characters are chu zhao, while chu zhao is just the friend we made along the way.

Do you wanna know why mainland fans are so angry? Basically the drama filming schedule are spreading, it has the…
They are so comfortable disrespecting dudu and bells when its them who need us. Whats funny is now their fans is acting like the internet is filled with bells bullying the other leads (when all we did was speaking out on this disgusting injustice btw😊) when barely weeks ago they disrespected dudu for having a small fan base.

I dont really like bringing these topics here but people deserve to know or at least feel equally feel uncomfortable, i wont let people just turn a blind eye to this blantant disease that is plaguing this industry.

This level of disrespect coming from the others fan and production team truly made me sick and disgusted, they hurt dudu and bells then turned to cry about bullying to the world. So sick and twisted.
