I don't remember the episode he feels he cant go back anymore but as I said it's near the end so between ep 31- 40. He starts having feelings for the girl who looks like his ex girlfriend from the modern times in episode 17.

Lian jin... is pure evil and is pretty much the main antagonist of the whole series. It's not until near the end he stops thinking about going back though earlier than that he starts having regrets and second thoughts. It's a happy ending so don't worry.

Romance was always a side plot the FL wasn't even in the last 16 episodes of season 1 so it's nothing new, It will probably have romance later

She will become less annoying later on after the MC travels and they separate

Yeah her hypocrisy was weird but I think it isn't that important overall because other than a few instances like the one you referenced she was a great FL. She also had good moments like when she went against her mother for the ML where a lot of other FLs wouldn't.
