Word of Honor was my very first cdrama and it got me confused. I thought there was sync issue because sometimes mouth movement did not match what's being said. That annoyed me. I was not aware Chinese dramas are voice dubbed lol. That's new to me and explains everything.
Once I read a description the first thought was "Wait, I have already watched this". CEO, prosopagnosia...same as CEO with face blindness in "The Beauty Inside".
Ugh. I don't know. I hate when any kind of story has no foundation. Genius, alone, with all world-changing tech in a house somewhere in CZ. Where money comes from? Who created all this tech? How it was never leaked? How come it's so advanced and yet people still struggle to create self-driving cars in KR. It would make more sense if portrayed world was more advanced and yet it's just a regular 2018 everywhere. Nothing makes sense. Or am I digging too deep? :P
So far not impressed. Typical evil dude, doing evil things Rich grandpa, a lot of annoying stupid characters and plot holes all other the place. Android character is a little more promising but everything around him is just shallow. Going to watch ep 9-10 and if no major improvement happens - dropped.
I couldn't help but smile after seeing Kwangsoo in very first scene, mostly because of his character and comedy in RM show. However after watching first 3 episodes, I must say, he's actually quite good actor. For some reason, everything about his acting feels natural.
I remember downloading his filmography many years ago and binge watched everything during summer break. Shows are old and yet very simple. Also fighting scenes look great even after 100 times. It's amazing how much content was made using Zatoichi theme.
Finished the first episode: ☑ Overreacting shouting female support in early minutes ☑ Absurd misunderstanding which could have been cleared with a single word ☑ Female acting 'tough' with fighting skills just to melt in arms of one guy ☑ Obsessed grandpa ☑ Magic concept which is not explained properly ☑ Terrible, soulless acting ☑ Fillers to kill time in very first episode??!!!??
I did not want to bury this but then saw "pre-produced" which means nothing is going to change. Most dramas start at their best and then go downhill as times goes since it's hard to keep consistency and rich story till the end. However when it starts like this and the realize that it will get even worse. Oh my... Still going to watch 2nd episode but I doubt it will change my opinion to drop this.
EDIT: finished 2nd ep - dropped. Too cliche for my taste.
We definitely need more female police officers/detectives/investigators in Asian dramas. Like Himekawa from Strawberry…
Well my apologies.
I never wanted to have this discussion, unfortunately this issue about not having enough female cast is not as meaningful to me as it is to you it seems. I would have never started if not your caps lock and some strong words later.
What's so funny now, that I was bored yesterday and never participated much in forums or comments. I thought, I should get more into this community...and here we have this wall of text. First shot went all smoothly haha

This discussion is not gonna get any healthier so I think we should end.
I did not insult your knowledge, I insulted your insulting. One thing is to say "I disagree, I think you are very wrong", another way is to call someone a disgrace. You don't know me and I don't know you.
If you think my statements were insulting, I have to disagree.
I have read a quite few articles about Korean female writers going full fanboy over some actors or idols, having them in mind while writing, influencing casting process to get them, etc. That is not majorly, few exceptions, but we still have to admit that those writers, whose shows appear now and then, focus on males and leave little place for females to develop.
This is where that sarcastic statement came from. Get a horny male writer and he will try his best to get more female idols for his work :) (they should stop casting idols btw). It was silly statement, never thought you would take it so seriously. A smile at the end of sentence usually indicates non-serious statement.
That's how internet works nowadays.

I think we are talking different things. I am talking about Korean TV (not American) and specifically dark/crime based TV shows where men are dominant for some obvious reasons. Different audience and rules.
And no, I do not hate on women :)
Also while trying to act all intelligent, insulting someone for different opinion basically destroys whatever you say, old lady :)

I'm pretty sure TV industry adapts really quickly to supply and demand. If suppose shows with a lot of women were very popular, less popular than let's say shows with less women, it wouldn't take a lot of time for production teams, both in East and West to realize that it's a thing. More views = more money.
However it doesn't seem to be the case. I personally don't really care. It's writer's task to make a story. If he/she thinks there's no need to have a women in his/her story for some reasons, then I don't see a reason to demand it from them.
Also, you mentioned that most writers are females, I think that's the problem because I heard most of them are crazy about male actors. No wonder they focus on them.
Get a male writer. He will focus on women :)

Right, because there has to be equal number of men and women in everything. Like if you don't cast a black guy in west you will be burred underground.
Korean women mostly watch romance, crime/investigation watched mostly by guys and surprisingly in crime dramas story is more important than pretty faces.
Also Korean culture is slightly different. While in my country prosecution consists of 50%/50% male/female and it would make sense in have equal amount of actors, I'm pretty sure in Korea males are dominant in that area (I could be wrong tho, don't have stats).
53 episodes are too much. Last 20 episodes were all about marriage, same thing over and over again. I think only historian dramas should be that long. Anyways, I'm going to finish this but lost my interest halfway through the drama.
At first it was interesting because of the plot, however with each episode it gets more and more boring. I hope some breakthrough happens in the story soon or else I will have to drop this.
Plus this drama have nothing to do with psychiatry except several medical terms, which is disappointing. Not sure why it's tagged as 'medical' and 'psychological'.
I thought this is gonna be another cheap boring drama, however I was very wrong. Silly, yet funny jokes, completely different characters with distinct personalities and somewhat good story-line got me addicted to this show.
It's not for everyone, for sure. Still, I'm a little sad to see such a bad rating. Plus only a few sub-ers picked this drama so subtitles are always late :/
